Good
I got this because my mom usually does tamales and I wanted to try for the first time to make them myself. I am seriously impressed by the way this grinder grinded the corn and made it just the way I wanted it. Of course my tamales didn’t taste as good as my moms but the texture was very similar.

Very loose tolerances and casting flaws.
Is soon as I pulled the grinder from the box I noticed a casting flaw in the auger and the tolerances were excessive, after assembly. I returned it and found one with better build quality.

Works great
I use it to crack grains for brewing. My only complaint is that it needs some sort of chute to direct the grains into a container. The top deflector around the wheels works to a point, but I still get strays out the sides and top. I had to use a large foil pan to collect the grains with a piece of cardboard behind the wheels to direct them into the pan. I used some sheet stainless and made a chute, improved it so much!

Heavy duty
As a prepper, this was on my list of things to definitely have. We also do homesteading. Grinds up grains into powder and you can run it a second time to get finer powder. The clamp was firm on the table but don't try it on particle board or marble without a cushion. It did grind coffee, but this is better for flour.

Not Food Grade Finish
While the design of this grinder and ease of use are just what I ordered, simple, manual, yet functional, the finish of the metal was not food grade. The instruction manual said it was cast iron coated in "tin". However, all of the cast parts were painted with a smelly paint that easily rubbed off on my hands when I assembled and tested the grinder. I did not have a lead test kit. I suspect (but can't be certain) it was a lead-based paint. The smell of the paint was very strong and the test ground corn I did smelled of the same paint. Even if I would have washed it with soapy water, it would be impossible to get all of the paint residue and smell off. There were even some gooey paint drips on some parts which I could scrap off by hand. I didn't see anything tin anywhere.Another finding was that Inside the horizontal hole in the base where the removable grinding face's spindle inserts, there was black foundry mold material. I discovered that when I disassembled the grinder face after my test. The spindle was covered in the mold material.Definitely not food-grade.
