Easy, nice, works
Not only is this good value for the money, but it is very capable since it supports two stage cooling and two stage heating. You can select between electric and gas heating and make other "technician" adjustments, but all the defaults worked for me. Installing the backplate was very easy for me since the mounting holes were identical to the Honeywell thermostat this one replaced. The unit comes in a nice little box with mounting hardware, and install and operating manuals and little stickers to apply to your wiring so that you know which wire goes to where. I didn't use the stickers (I took a good picture of the old wiring instead showing the B, R, C, etc. symbols), but it's a nice reminder to pay attention to which color wires go where since you have no idea how the wires were really wired down at the furnace, unless you look there too. I like that this unit has a hard button for cool/heat/off, much better than having to go into menus to change over. That little flip down lid at the bottom holds the two optional AAA batteries that saves settings during power outages. Nice that the batteries are easy to access.

A GOOD THERMOSTAT FOR THE MONEY HEAGSTAT H715
My old two heat stage Honeywell thermostat no longer always energized the heat, must have been a problem with the relay contacts. Looked for a replacement 2 stage thermostat and found this one. Although it is not the latest WI-FI enabled, it does what is needed. It is programmable for MON-FRi, and SAT and SUN. The nice thing is that there are adjustments for temperature calibration, cycle rate, and more. (The Honeywell was known for short cycling). There is no info in the book as to when the second stage heat is called on, but it seems like if you are more than a degree below the set-point the second stage is enabled, when the second stage is called for the number +1 appears above the heat symbol. Another nice thing is that it is powered from the heater but also has battery back-up, not like my old Honeywell that did not have battery backup, so with a loss of power I needed to reset the time. I did inquire to HEAGSTAT as to when the second stage was activated, as at one point it seemed like it was always calling for two stage heat. Their reply was disappointing, basically saying to hire an electrician. I would have liked an explanation of how the second stage is energized and info that when it was energized the +1 would appear. The manual also shows a +2, who knows what that is for as there is no info in the booklet. The thermostat so far seems like a great deal for the money, works well and has many adjustments, and is for two stage heat and cooling. I give it five stars, although the customer support was disappointing and a bit insulting.

Good for its value
If this was one of those expensive thermostats, I would've given a lower rating. But it's budget so I can't really complain. The install was easy and the directions for programming was also easy. I also like the flexibility on what turns on and how long it's on. And as someone who came from a dark age thermostat, the background light on this thing is really nice. Some reviewers had problems with the buttons being sticky, but so far 2 weeks in I haven't experienced this... yet. But... this thermostat is just not flexible enough. I live in the desert so 90°F isn't a high temperature for me. I have a power saving time so my electric bill isn't sky high. During this time I can't have the AC on at all. If I were able to set the temps to 99° that'd be fine but I can't. 90° max. If I were able to flex the temp calibration down to -10° degrees, that'd be great but I can't. Only - 3° max. I have a 2 story house so I put this downstairs where it will be less of a problem. I'm going to have to go with a smart thermostat if I want anything for upstairs. Update: Unfortunately, I had to return this. The limitations just weren't cutting it. Also, within the month of having this t-stat, the AC hooked up to it stopped working. An electrical board got burnt up and then some which took me near $1k to fix. It's likely just coincidental, but regardless I removed this thermostat when I got the AC fixed. Gonna go with something more expensive and reputable.

Very smart! Very practical, very configurable.
This is the smartest thermostat I ever had. It is protective for your furnace as it lets adjust the temp swing as you want. Bye bye short cycling caused by other thermostats! Very practical, very configurable.

TURN OFF YOUR POWER 1st
When I first started to install the wires with a pair of pliers I crossed some a bit and touched the metal and saw sparks. I had forgotten to shut off the power to the A/C and furnace. It was fine, but be do that first don’t be me. It works I like that it has a blue back light to the screen when you touch it I don’t like how crowded the right side of the screen gets with the temperature set and actual temperature displayed at the same time, but it’s worth its price. I also cannot figure out how to turn off the military time 24 hour time and it’s driving me crazy, so if anybody could help it would be hugely appreciated. The instructions were not helpful and I couldn’t figure it out from what others have posted on here. As far as installs go it went smoothly and when the power was turned on it immediately kicked into gear without issue. Again if anybody could help change it from 24 hours to 12 hours please help. I feel dumb because I can’t figure it out.

Good value, easy to install.
Easy to install when I replaced a simple, old school two wire thermostat. Buttons are easy to read, display arrived same as pictured, easier to program than some others I’ve purchased. I usually wait before writing a review to see how item performs, but this came out of the box and is solid.

Best Thought Out Programmable Thermostat
This is probably one of the best well thought out programmable devices I have purchased in a long time. It is very user friendly, and the programming is made simple using common sense. I am very impressed. being an engineer myself, I am amazed at how challenging programmable devices are for me, and can only imagine what the common user must go through. I am a techno, wizard and love figuring out electronic Devices but very few are as simple to use is this. Very well thought through for navigation. I am impressed. Also pleasantly surprised to find that it has 1/2° increments available. because most thermostats have to go a degree above and below the set point before they are triggered, which is a 3° difference, which can feel very uncomfortable. But this one gives the option of. 1/2° increments, which is much more precise. This should be exploited in the advertising, surprised it is not. Thank you guys for an awesome device, at least at this point after about a week of using.

Works great!!
Replaces this really old HVAC control panel with this one and it works perfectly. I wish the temp was in Celcius instead of of Fahrenheit but apart from that it works perfectly.
