This beats my small counter top compost container. The bags are strong and hold up. The bin is easy to keep clean. I find I am composting more than I was previously.

Bought this along with the compost genie bin (and an outside composter from another company) and absolutely love it. No odors, no fruit flies and very easy to change. Light years ahead of any other compost storage unit we have bought for the kitchen!

The bags are good, but narrow enough that it can split if your food is wide, even if it's within the size of the opening (like a watermelon rind).They can hold plenty of weight, at least. I love that they are compostable, and other than the split on the seam they seem to do ok. The best bet is to set the larger, heavier stuff in gently, and it will be ok.

This was my birthday present to myself and I'm kind of bummed. (Besides being bummed that one old enough to decide to order a compost genie for one's birthday :).I can't figure out how to clear the bottom tray that's supposed to collect extra liquid (which seems significant after 5 days or however long it takes to fill up a bag). As a result, it smells occasionally. I actually emailed the company after failing to find any how-to videos online. No answer yet. The lid also stays stuck in the closed position 30% of the time. I'll update this review if I figure out how to use this better. I love the idea of it.

Fall apart & lose everything before you have time to get it out of the Compost Genie & into a compost bin.
