Check what you already have: it might be a bargain
"What a great price", I thought: 20 CDs at less than one pound each. A few I have known and owned, thus I thought that this is a good opportunity to get an impression of what is going on in the Rock scene outside of my primary interest, i.e., post-1980... The CDs cover the period 1968 to 2011, with four of them first published in 1980. From this collection, it seems to me that I haven't missed anything. If I hadn't had already the Fleetwood Mac (Mr Wounderful), ELP (Tarkus), Mott the Hoople (All the young dudes), Jeff Beck (Blow by blow) and Clash (London Calling), I would have made a good deal. For others, the CDs of Judas Priest (British Steel), Adam & the Ants (Kings of the wild frontier), The Stone Roses (The Stone Roses) and Manic Street Preachers (Everything must go) might be of interest.In contrast to other such box sets, the good points are:1) the box includes a booklet with all titles, song authors and times on the 20 CDs, band members/instruments, some (not all) recording dates, original publishing dates2) the CDs come in fitting thin cartoon envelopes3) the front cover is a cheap reproduction of the original album, but the back gives the content of each CD in a readable font size.
