Clear and concise even good for 9 year olds
My 9 year old son asked me about the Iranian embassy siege and asked for a book! Easier said than done but found this and he read it in one evening loving it and answered all the questions he had.

Just over 110 pages long so is quite a short account of the now famous 1980 Iranian Embassy Siege which was brought to an end by SAS assault under the codename Operation Nimrod. The book breaks down each day of the siege with both hostage and Police/Government narrative, there are many aspects which have been uncovered through primary sources and the official Home Office report into the incident. Also included is a brief history of the SAS and the political background which instigated the terrorist siege of the Embassy. The SAS operation itself, although brief is very well researched, including not only floor plans but positions of SAS teams, hostages and terrorists at the time of the attack. Each floor and corresponding SAS team from entry, clearing to evacuation is covered in detail in separate sub sections. As an account of the six tense days in Princes Gate in May 1980 it is well written and researched.

Intriguing and well-written
Russell Phillips' books is incredibly well-written and yet concise. There are no filler in this book. While more the length of a novella, each sentence has been written and has a purpose, and this book is the most historically-accurate and exciting telling of the 1980 Iranian Embassy hostage situation and the SAS. Thanks, Russell!

Years after this event it is still necessary to pause and remember the impact of those brave decisions, and more importantly, the actions of those brave men who showed no compromise to terrorism. They gave us the standards so that we could deal with the problems. The account that Amazon has presented is historically correct, and accurate

Short but interesting
This was a 105-page retelling of this incident which was well done and had good details on what occurred.Since it is the only account written about this, I can recommend it.

Nice and short description of the Iran embassy siege.
Liked the political background described initially.Would have loved a bit more details on the SAS operation. Some pictures in end never go waste :-)

Very interesting
A detailed account of the Iranian siege in England. I was not aware of all the backstory goings on before and during and after the siege.
