Sturdy and well made
so far I cannot fault this turfing iron, it looks good and the construction appears second to none. The edge wasn't sharpened when I received it but that has not stopped me removing old turf

Needs sharpening, then you’re away
Bought this instead of hiring petrol one, pleasantly surprised, as other reviewers have commented arrives blunt, put fairly equal tapered edge to both sides, it’s not a hot knife through butter but so much easier less back ache than a spade, time will tell on sturdiness but seems well made and robust

Better than a spade but needs manual adjusting
Positive. It is better than using a spade but will still require hard work if soil is not goodNegative. Arrived a little bent and needed straighteningBlade needs to be sharpened. I used a file. Took about 15 mins to get a sharper front edge

Did what I needed it to do
This worked great for me; I cut the turf into small sections with a lawn edger and then used this to skim off the top. Heavy to use but worked great!

Waste of money
Heavy and crudely made. Steel is thick and blunt. Easier to use a fork or spade.

Sharpen it and then you’re good to go.
I was slightly reluctant to buy this given the mixed reviews but I’m pleased I did. Like a lot of reviewers have said, it does need sharpening first so if you don’t have an angle grinder I wouldn’t bother buying it. Once I did that and got the knack of using it, I found it much better than a spade. I could get an even turf removal whereas with a spade I was tending to rip up the turf. It is well built and seems to take any abuse I give it so all in all, I’m happy.

I would recommend sharpening the blade once you have, it works a dream

quite heavy but does the job
sharpen to 45 degrees on top edge cut turf with edge cutter then push using its weight to cut for fairly easy medium effort job.
