Heavy Duty Sun Sail Shade - Large 12'x12' Square - Sandy Beach

I bought this sun tarp to cover a patio trellis that had originally held 4'x4' criss cross wood lattice. The old lattice panels were falling apart and had never really handled the 100 degree heat and glare well. This new shade is quite strong and has slightly curved sides which help the tarp stay taught. The anchor straps and D ring loops in each corner can handle a lot of stress. The Desert Sand color provides more natural light.A relative has a triangular version of the same tarp. It also does a good job but his a has 3 point unsupported span which does cause some sag in the middle. This can cause leaves and rain to collect in the center where it drains through the fabric in a single stream. Having a cross frame under the tarp really helps keep the sun screen flat and tight so rain disperses better, leaves don't collect and the wind causes very little flapping.The fabric itself is great. The weave allows air to pass through to minimize the sail effect. At the same time it provides very even and comfortable shade while also providing good light without much glare from the direct sun. I used straps to fasten the corner rings which helps keeps it tight and also allows me to shift the position of the screen from side to side as the trajectory of the sun changes during the summer.

I bought 1.5 years ago and finally putting it up - was just lazy. You must get hardware. Not super easy to square up if you are putting it up with existing, possibly non-square, poles/trees/walls. Recommend that you go high and have a corner or a side drop off. Installed on existing enclosed deck in about 45 minutes, with a couple of start/stops. Would be nice to know (remember) more knots. I will probably update this to tell you how it works for shading -- was just throwing out my thoughts after a 90 degree, 75% humidity install.

Received this quicker than expected. There are no instructions on how to properly install so I will be doing some trial and error to find the best configuration. There is no "carry bag" as is mentioned in the Amazon listing. Curiously, even though there are no instructions there is an included form that tells you that there is a 30 day warranty; this same sheet includes a notice that this product was not designed to be used for "lethal purposes" !!?? The material appears to be very good quslity with good stitching and is of a good heavy weight. Once I get this installed I will update this rating

This is a great and inexpensive product that looks and functions beautiful on our deck. I used 4x4 posts with s-hooks and turnbuckles to attach the sun shade to the outer edge of our deck. The turnbuckles allow you to increase or decrease tension on the shade and for ease of taking the shade down in poor weather. When down, it hangs next to the house but can easily be rolled up and synched with a bungee chord. We couldn't be more pleased.

It was not too hard to put up. Provides sufficient shade for cooking out back. Winds do tend to cause it to come down, so I would not leave it up all the time, just when it is needed.

Used it to give shade to back porch for my husband so could sit out side in his wheelchair. Loves it.

Love it shades our back porch so nicely. We bought these back in 2015 and they are still like brand new. We take them down in the winter but they have been fantastic of keeping out the sun shading our porch.

Purchased this for my patio this summer, it was easy to install and provided much needed shade for my patio. Overall it is a pretty good product for the price.
