FABRICLIVE33: Spank Rock

First bought this in Montreux after seeing Spank Rock's set in 2007. Lost the CD a few years ago and on a whim decided to re-buy it.So glad I did. It's bloody marvellous !Mylo segue into Yes is real genius !

Very good album, I like the different sounds that are mixed in...

OLDSKOOL ELECTRO FUNK ON ACID! Lovely mix of weird, strange, and beautiful electro sounds. Let's say you had a saucepan and you could mix a variety of mechanical sounds inside it, well shake it up a bit and you have this. A little bit of 80's thrown back in there and some old electronic breakbeat, then top it off with New electronica served with some Hot Chip and Mylo sauce. Sprinkle on a little Simian Mobile Disco and some Miss Kittin and you have a recipe to rock da house and lift the roof off.

All in all this is a solid party mix that gets better with each listen.The voice samples and sound effects created specially for the mix mostly work well.Classics such as Breaks by Kurtis Blow, Owner Of A Lonely Heart, and Talking In Your Sleep manage to raise the mix above mediocrity. However, it isnt without its share of groans, both Switch-A Bit Patchy and Mylos Drop the Pressure have been played to death in recent years, there is really no need to include them on here, especially with the attrocious MC'ing over the latter.

Slightly different sounds but it would be between Spank Rock & Jacques lu Cont for best Fabriclive for me. This is an absolutely cracking mix

Just got this through Fabric, it's one of the better Fabric mixes. The mix from A Bit Patchy to Do You Love Me, is nicely done. Also features the superb Mr Oizo track Nazis, had forgotten about this one! I also really like the Hot Chip remix on this mix, I was beginning to get tired of this song after hearing it numerous times, but this puts a really chilled funky edge on it. All in all, this is a great mix of rave it up tunes, sprinkled with a few more chilled out rehashes of some classics. Definitley recommended.

Best of Fabric series since cut copy and diplo mixes. Lots of choice cuts, top ones being 'dominatrix sleeps tonight' and chicks on speeds retake on 'wordy rappinghood'. Bought Spank Rock's yoyoyoyo etc album on the back of this, which is a proper treat.

Nach dem ich die Trackliste gesehen habe, dachte ich mir schon das das mal ganz was anderes wird. und genau das ist es. wenn man auf 2 many Dj`s und Mash up und absolut abgedrehte Trackauswahl steht ist man auch hier absolut richtig. Macht echt spaß ,super !!!Yello ,Kano ,Kurtis Blow dann Daft Punk ,The Romantics Tangerine Dream,hallo was will man mehr?Und dann mit so viel Herz und Fun abgemischt ,macht echt Spaß. Weiter so .Besonders der Track Hot chip "Over and Over " der Oberhammer .Pflichtkauf für Kenner !!!!

Fan des fabric, passez votre tour, fan de spanck rock, passez votre tour...Mix insipide, j'ai pourtant essayé un paquet de fois...

I went to a couple of raves and I thought they sucked because they played too much house and not enough drum-n-bass. My only exposure to dance music is more along the lines of George Clinton or some punk-type electronic chick rock stuff (Crystal Castles make house beats into the right idea). I know nothing about the rest of the Fabriclive series, but this makes me want to. I still prefer YOYOYOYOYOYO, but Spank Rock can also make a mean mixtape. The silver tin is a nice touch too.

What a rocking mix!Perfect for pulling down your grundies and getting spanked.

So like I kept holding off on this one because it looked like another mix tape. Club shenanigans and all that. And while that may be so to a point, the album is the JAM. Spank himself drops lyrics on a couple songs with the ferocity of my old man dropping the kids off at the pool (Drop the Pressure and the 80s classic Talking In Your Sleep). Couple that with a tight selection of sparkling songs from the fast few decades plus guest spots by Amanda and Pase (Lindsay Lohan's Revenge anybody?). Take this to any party, play it front to back and watch the rocks go off.Not to be missed. Not to be missed.
