The Primary Mathematics U.S. Edition series of elementary math textbooks and workbooks is meant to be part of a system of learning in which adult supervision and independent practice go hand in hand. The main feature of this series is the use of the Concrete> Pictorial>Abstract approach. The students are provided with the necessary learning experiences beginning with the concrete and pictorial stages, followed by the abstract stage to enable them to learn mathematics meaningfully. This approach encourages active thinking process, communication of mathematical ideas and problem solving. This helps develop the foundation students will need for more advanced mathematics. Practice exercises are designed to provide the students with further practice after they have done the relevant workbook exercises. Review exercises are provided for cumulative reviews of concepts and skills. All the practice exercises and review exercises are optional exercises. Our Primary Mathematics U.S. Edition 1A-6B is ideal for both classroom and home use for 1st - 7th grades. This is the most popular (Singapore Math) primary math series used by schools and homeschoolers in the U.S. and Canada. Recommended for those who want a solid, basic math program with a proven track record and an emphasis on concept development, mental techniques, and problem solving. This is primarily a direct instruction program. Students are given several approaches for solving problems and are encouraged to discuss ideas and explore additional methods. Answer keys booklets are not included, but are available - one for Primary 1A-3B and one for Primary 4A-6B. Review: Excellent Books - I absolutely love Singapore math! Itโs challenging in the best way. I feel like itโs helping my children understand math and itโs practical applications, rather than just complete problems. A side note, thereโs lots of fun art and simple puzzles in these books. They make the worksheets more engaging and interesting Review: A thoughtful program - We have been using these from grade 1. It's is nice structured approach. Seems thoughtful in how they introduce topics and build upon them. The text books are colourful and help clarify the approach to be used in exercises and while most of the times this is obvious, it can be helpful. Hence would suggest getting the full set.

These books are good.
These were used books from a seller, it took a while to get shipped in the shipping process, I see a tracking number but it took some days to reach. The books are good, the seller did a good job in maintaining and sending them. First teach the kids out of text book ad make sure they know the concepts and then give the workbook to do there work. I feel these concepts are building blocks and they should be able to understand and learn out of it.

Teaches mental math.
We have been using Singapore Math since level one and love the mental math! You have to get creative with examples if your child doesn't quite grasp some of the concepts. We also had to spend more time with the word problems. I would recommend the text book and the workbook. The text book shows their method, gives examples of how to work out the problem and has practice exercises. The work books have regular exercises and review questions after each chapter.

Easy to understand
Easy to understand, comprehensive math curriculum with grade appropriate material. We bought the textbook (which feels a lot more like a workbook) and workbook. They go well together, but do not come with any type of answer keys, so if that's something you want, I would recommend buying the teacher's manual as well (my reason for only 4 stars).

I started out using the Primary Mathematics at the recommendation ...
I started out using the Primary Mathematics at the recommendation of a 2nd grade teacher. Since trying level 2A, I went on and bought 2B and several other levels. The method used in these books is very friendly to young students and parents alike. The Primary Mathematics series from Singapore Math has colorful illustrations inside, and a decent number of problems to do. If you want a more exhaustive number of problems, Singapore Math has another series without color illustrations, but with more problems to answer. Personally, my daughter enjoys the colored illustrations, and I don't think she would do well with more problems to solve.

Great
I home school my kids and have been using Singapore for a while now. It is a little advanced, for instance book 3A would be for the second semester of 3rd grade. But my 3rd grader started it at the beginning of 3rd grade and had no problems. They put a big emphasis on 'mental math'.

Bought for dyslexic daughter
My daughter needed a consistent strategy for problem solving. I found that these short lessons and practice problems work great with the Singapore modeling strategy. Math confidence has boosted and summer slide diverted. Will continue working through once school starts. Awesome foundation builder!
