Helpful and includes diverse characters
The instructions were clear and helpful for beginners and advanced artists. As someone who’s been drawing for 10 years, it’s hard to find a stylized art book that has new tools for improvement; yet this book was very helpful in understanding simplifying the body into forms. They include characters of many differing body types that tend to be difficult to find in these types of art books. This book is almost very helpful for example of good line weight and value scales.

Few actual lessons
I generally like this book! It's a great collection of references with nice character designs and a few really good pointers. I'm also just happy to support Alex, as his free YouTube videos have already been great guides over the years. Still, I had to remove two stars because of the following reasons: - There is very little text and very few explanations. Maybe that's the style of the series, I don't know, it's my first book from it, but four pages of text is just not a lot when looking at the over 100 pages that follow. I'd have appreciated a few "how to" pointers and some lines here and there about the decision-making process regarding the showcased designs, considering learning how to design compelling characters is the main focus of the book. - The video "tutorials" were honestly disappointing to me. They'd have been an opportunity to balance out the lack of explanation given in the actual book, but instead of a more in depth look with voiceover, they're silent speedpaints. If something is advertised as a "tutorial", I expect it to teach something. The author's YouTube channel has tons of readily accessible speedpaints where he actually talks about his progress, in comparison, the ones from the book are way less helpful. To sum things up, I don't regret my purchase, but I feel like there were wasted opportunities to make it a valuable asset. If Alex publishes another book in the future that goes more in a "how to" direction, I'd happily give it another shot.

Great book recommend it 😊👍🏻 (with two small critiques)
The book came in a good condition and feels of good quality 👍🏻i’m very excited to see what kind of stuff was in the book and as someone who has been drawing for sometime and watching the writers YouTube channel I hope to learn something from it my only critiques are from a first glance that I had hoped to see was maybe a little more information in the book about the drawing process beside the basics (for instance why you make certain decisions while drawing “why would a line of action be useful?” ) and I had hoped that the videos from the QR codes had a little more information about the drawing process instead of just a timelapse but I do think it’s helpful for beginner and intermediate artists and I’m very excited to start learning and drawing ☺️

Helpful!
For someone who’s drawn since I was literally a baby lol but 14 professionally (now 22) it’s so helpful to be reminded how anatomy works and it’s a good study book so I recommend it for both beginners and professionals!
