Review: Used this for installing a 12 bolt chevy ring and pinion - To get it done I took a piece of 1/4" steel plate and put two holes in it so I could bolt it to the housing to give me a stable platform to measure from. Using my dial caliper I used the depth side to take the measurement using this to give the caliper stability on the plate. Worked like a charm! Gave me the reading I wanted, make the necessary adjustment with shims and done and back on the track. That is the only thing I cared about when I bought this. Would buy again if I needed another.
