How long will the wick last, plan to get my first kerosene heater soon.

You should get one complete heating season out of one wick in my experience. Change the wick every year though; they're cheap enough and they don't burn as well the next year. If you don't change it, you will have an over-powering kerosene smell, and they do not put out nearly enough heat. That said, change the wick if what I just wrote starts to happen before the end of your heating season. I have two kerosene heaters, and I've had them for over 10 years. I have used them for primary residential heat in the past, and currently as emergency back up heat, and for heating an industrial area. Hope this helps.
