I was hooked from the first moment and could not put the book down.
We follow Rocky and Phoebe, who come from different con artists families. They are partners in crime, scamming their way from city to city. When Phoebe and Hailey (her BFF/ Rocky's sister) latest con goes wrong, Hailey decides to get out and start a new "normal" live.Hailey convinces Phoebe to go along. When they arrive in Connecticut Rocky catches up with them, deciding to stick around for this adventure.I loved seeing glimpses from Phoebe and Rocky their pas, how they got to a complex relationship to the point they are at now.We get a enemies to lovers with soulmate vibes (they belong together).I for one can't wait to see what happens next in this series.I was hooked from the first moment and could not put the book down.

What happened on "the con that will not be named" ??
Dishonestly Yours is everything we needed for a deceptively cunning read, following two best friends who’s families are intertwined in more ways than one.Phoebe and Hailey are best friends, their families are on the run, con artists that move from one city to the next and never stay put. After a harrowing con gone wrong, the girls decide to split from the family and settle down in a small town in Connecticut that feels too good to be true.Hailey’s brother joins them as they leave the con life behind, to make sure his sister is safe and that this is what she actually wants. It has nothing to do with his confusing relationship with Phoebe, that neither of them can admit or accept.I enjoyed the high society life that is portrayed by the families with each con, even though you would assume con artists are lower class and struggling to get by. The glitz and glam that made the con lifestyle seem like a dream come true was enticing and almost made you want to join them.Phoebe is constantly used by her mother to trick men with her body or seduction, but she doesn’t see it that way. She believes her mother is doing what she can to protect her, the families and the business. Rocky knows what he’s always wanted, but what he can never have: Phoebe. She will not allow her mother to be given that power over the two of them. Being used in cons because they love one another? Absolutely not. So they cannot act on their feelings, no matter what they feel for another.I was reminded of The Great Gatsby parties, lifestyle and luxury, plus the mystery of trying to figure out what went wrong on “the con that shall not be named” that has Phoebe and Rocky so messed up.Truly could not put this down and had it complete in a few reading sessions. Cannot wait for the next, Destructively Mine.

A more than good beginning! // Un inizio più che ottimo
(RECENSIONE ITALIANA SOTTO)I didn't expect to love this book SO much. Krista&Becca Ritchie clearly have a great love for complex plots and characters, that's it. With this duo it's difficult to predict which direction will take the plot, so I was surprise more than once and I knew in my heart that THAT ending will be just the start of an even more elaborate and complicated series that will easily become another bookish obsession.I suffered a lot in every single flashback of Rocky and Phoebe, and I routed for them so freacking much since the very beginning, because yes, those two for me are endgame since page 5 and no one could make me change idea! At the same time I appreciated how those authors took time to make the reader understand why they aren't already together and how and why their relationship is so tormented. I hate their parents so much, and I'm eager to know more about their (real) motivations. In a sea of deception, the only true things are the love and the bond between their children, and I hope they won't irreparably ruin it.That's not all, though.I also became affectionate to the rest of the characters: Hailey, Oliver, Nova, and even Jake (that has a interesting story, and I didn't expect that too)... I can't wait to see them more, and see what their stories (and love interests, eheh) will get at.Am I ready to suffer a lot? No.Will I love the sequels anyway? Absolutely yes.******4.5 stelle!

When they tell you it's a slow burn, it's because it is, but it's something that keeps burning and burning until it explodes, and when it explodes, fireworks happen. It's a story about two friends from a family of con artists who decide to leave that life behind because of something that happens to one of them.I find the friendship between Phoebe and Hailey a bit toxic; one would give everything for the other without considering the consequences, and while there is loyalty there, there is also suffering from everything they have been through in their lives.Rocky is a boy marked by his family; he doesn’t allow himself to be loved for fear that his family will use that to manipulate him. He has loved Phoebe all his life, but he refuses to do anything because of his parents; he refuses to give them that power.Phoebe is a girl who her mother has used to do work seducing men and taking their money, but by doing this work, Phoebe has been manipulated all her life by her mother, although she doesn’t see it that way; she sees it as her mother protecting her. Because her mother wants Phoebe to be with Rocky, she refuses to give her that power.Phoebe and Rocky find themselves in a painful situation where he sees her with others, and she sees him with others because of their parents, and for that reason, they are against being together even though they love each other; they don’t want their parents to use that love.

It was a con family type vibes with hidden secrets and of course some romance. Even though it was slow paced, i loved the tension between Rocky & Phoebe and even when the sauce came around it wasn’t too heavy.Even though there was some questions left unanswered, I didn’t let that affect my way of reading because I’m sure it’ll be answered in the next book. I didn’t know what to expect when starting the book, which i believe is a good thing! The siblings closeness was my favorite part and that ENDING? Man, there was some twist back to back. I can’t wait until the next release, i need to know what the hell happens next!
