Only five or so uses but darn good, so far, update.
I have a bunch of 18 Makita tools, a number of 5.0 OEM batteries. Also have 3.0s, 4.0s and a couple of knock off brands. In the last couple of years have added a 2X18 blower, chainsaw and weed eater. The blower is a battery hog but these seem to last longer than the 5.0 OEMs. Lots less expensive. No science here on the battery life, just a fairly strong feeling. On a long job, kept on waiting for the blower to cut out and waited and waited. Been the third time I noticed that. All good, so far.I'll update if that changes. And here is my update. These seem outlast the 5.0 Makita batteries by quite a bit. They are a bit lighter. For 2X18 tools any weight loss is great. Long lasting as far as recharge times? That rating is out, but they are about a quarter of the price.

These are marked BL1815 not BL1830
They work fine, so at this price I'm not going to complain too much, but I was expecting that 3Ah batteries would be roughly the same size and weight as the OEM Makita BL1830 (so named to denote 18 Volts and 3.0 Amp-hours). These batteries are about half the weight and half the height, and marked "BL1815" on the bottom (which, is coincidentally the name of Makita's slimline 18 Volt 1.5 Amp-hour option). I don't think I'll ever know if the capacity is really 1.5 Amp-hours or 3.0 Amp-hours, but for 15 dollars per battery, I can't say I really care? Maybe I'll need to charge them a bit more frequently? They fit fine in my older Makita tools that don't accept the "Star" batteries, and drilled a dozen holes in square steel tubing without any problem. My only worry now is durability (both the number charging cycles they can handle, and physically whether the plastic case material will endure the bumps and drops that my OEM batteries did). So far they are a cheap upgrade from the 13 year old batteries that came with my oldest tools, which over time went from tireless workhorses, to only lasting 2 minutes between charges.

One good, one won't hold charge after 2 months. Update: Vendor replaced faulty battery.
Well kind of 50-50. I can't get one of the batteries to charge past 25% (according to lights), and it discharges quickly. The other seems fine, although not the capacity of an OEM battery. If they both work they are a deal. Since I only have one, not such a good deal.Update: Well I am pleasantly surprised. The vendor quickly replaced the faulty battery. They initiated the replacement without me having to beg for it like so many other vendors. They clearly want to make the customer happy. They have my respect.

Value for the Price
They charge quickly on my Makita charger and seem to perform similar to my 5Amp Makita batteries. They fit all my tools so far. I have had them several months now and are holding up to repeated use and charging.
