The TWO BEST TIPS for best results!
I've been using an epilator for years and I've always bought a Braun. The company has quality products, well made and the engineering is top notch. This upgrade from the last model is still rechargeable, has 3 speeds, a light so you can better see the area, etc. The major improvement is the epilator head swivels to glide over curves, i.e. your knees, calves, etc. It helps keep the head close to the skin without applying too much pressure. I'm not going over too much info you can read on your own about attachments and basic use, my review has hints to help you get the best results. First, everyone complains about the pain. Sure, it's not pleasant, but if you want smooth skin for weeks, with a major reduction in regrowth, it's worth it. There are ways you can minimize the pain as well. Be certain your hair is not too long; long enough for the tweezer head to grab, about a quarter inch or a little more. Too long and it will definitely be painful. Your skin should be clean, dry and exfoliated. If you want to bathe or shower first to open your pores, go for it. Exfoliating will bring the hairs away from your skin, making for a better result. There are 2 MOST important hints that facilitate the process to the max! I can't reiterate this enough. When running the Braun epilator head over your skin, go slowly! Applying pressure is not as important as lengthening contact with the surface area. Don't use it like a razor. I'm always in a hurry with everything, but in this case, the slower you swipe the area, the more hair it'll pull. Think of it like a vacuum, the slower you allow the machine to cover the area, the more debris it'll pick up. I guarantee if you slow down, allowing more time over your skin to grab the hair, the machine will do the best job. Now this is important!! Hold the body of the epilator at a 90° angle from the skin's surface. This also allows more contact with your skin and enables the tweezers to do the job. I'm serious about this, you'll notice a major difference in the results. Of course, hair grows in different directions, so you'll likely have to run over the skin in a few different directions the first few times, and never with the growth, always against it. The more times you use it, you'll notice far less regrowth, your hair grows back slower, finer and your skin will be smoother. You'll likely notice redness on some of your pores, but that should subside in 10-20 minutes. Never use over broken skin, rashes, etc. To prevent ingrown hairs, wipe your skin with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide before and afterward, let it thoroughly dry. If you use the machine with these tips, you'll get the best results, with less pain. You'll never go back to shaving!

I actually look forward to using this, despite my initial fears of pain
I am weirdly into this product. Ymmv but it never hurt on my calves/ankles (my hair there is very thin already). It did hurt on my knees, especially sides of knees, and armpits/thighs, but not enough to stop using it. Now it's more of a gentle pinch and it's more satisfying than painful -- I kinda look forward to it, honestly. Plus there's no risk of cutting myself or damaging my skin with wax. Not sure how much the flexible head helps on this model since it's my first epilator, but I don't have any trouble getting to curvy spots of my legs and armpits with it. Love the light on the device since I can see every little hair -- I wouldn't ever buy an epilator without a flashlight built in. To minimize pain in the first use, I would recommend shaving any area you want to epilate. Then run the epilator over the area every day for at least a week. Different hair grows at different speeds so you'll get a few hairs every day instead of all of them at once. Also, less pain (and less risk of the hair breaking at the root) if the hair is shorter when it gets epilated. I have had issues with ingrown hairs on my legs (prone to them with razors too because the hair is too thin and weak to push through the skin). I'm noticing probably 25% more ingrowns now, but I'm also noticing that the hairs growing back a very thin now, and some of my hair isn't growing back at all. If you have strawberry legs before epilation, you'll want to exfoliate before and after every shower to keep ingrowns at bay. Dry brushing and gold bond rough + bumpy lotion help, but I'm still looking for a better solution for bumps. Freshly epilated legs do have much less of a strawberry look than razor since there's no hair below the surface of your skin. One thing it's missing is an indicator for the mode. There's just a button so when I started I assumed the quieter/slower one was the mode for sensitive skin. Turns out the louder/faster one tends to be more comfortable since it grabs more at once (but isn't as thorough as the slow mode). Overall, this is the only hair removal you experience that doesn't fill me with dread. Strongly recommended for fellow humans who hate shaving.

Braun Epilator for Smooth Skin
I should have purchased this years ago. Reading the reviews I was a little hesitant to open the box. I decided I should try it with wet legs first. I was expecting to jump out my skin on first try but it wasn’t bad at all. I have several tattoos so my tolerance maybe be a bit jaded but it didn’t hurt much. I went at a slow pace as the hair was about 1/4 inch long. It did pinch a bit but I keep going. I didn’t exfoliate first as many suggested but did directly after showering. I only went over my legs and they were baby smooth afterwards. I used the skin guard also. It’s been over a week and my legs are still smooth.
