So Far So Good!!!
I purchased this laptop this past Saturday for my online classes, internet, YouTube, and social media. When I ordered the laptop, it said shipping would take 3-5 weeks to arrive. I was kind of bummed because my classes start in less than 2 weeks. I think it was 2 days later that I received an email from Amazon telling me that they would be able to ship my item quicker and I'd receive it by Friday. I just got it yesterday (Wednesday) so that was some great customer service because I dreaded waiting that long for it.This laptop is the perfect size for my needs. I wanted something small, light, and portable. It has a slight weight to it but you won't feeling like you're working out if you carry it around. I got it in white (because this is as close as I'm going to get to Mac-book for right now) but I wish I'd gotten the black or red to not worry about stains or clean up so much because the laptop doesn't have a smooth glossy finish, it's has very fine ridges. I'll soon probably purchase skin decals to cover the outside and a clear protector for the keys.First starting the computer, it took about 15-20 minutes to get thru all the prompts and personalizing. At the start page, the colors are very vivid and clear. I was honestly scared of Windows 8 because of everyone's reviews saying how horrible it was but I don't see it to be entirely difficult. Once you play around with for a while, it's fairly simple and easy to navigate. The touch screen works great. There is a bit of lag when you pinch to make the screen smaller or wider on an internet page but that's not a biggie. I did delete a lot of programs which I find no use for in effort to aid the speed. I'm not a gamer or anything like that so I don't need super fast speed for games. I just need to be able to search effectively and use my blackboard/email which I'm able to do.My only issues thus far arose while watching a YouTube video. I noticed it takes a moment to focus and become clear while playing. Also the audio kind of scratches at the beginning of it but ceases after a few seconds. Also, i was using my headphones to listen and I pulled it out to see if my headphones were the issue of the audio scratchy noise, which they weren't, and then put it back in. The sound wouldn't go back to my headphones. I tried repeatedly but it wouldn't return. I shut down and restarted my laptop (which by the way is super quick), pulled up YouTube, plugged in my headphones and they worked. I thought that was odd. The battery seems to go down rather quickly but I'm sure I can change some settings around to adjust that. This laptop will mostly be used at my desk so It's not too big of an issue. All in all I think this is a great buy for $314. This laptop doesn't have a DVD drive but I got a portable one for $26 on Amazon as well that works just fine. I'm pleased with my purchase and I'm excited to start my classes!!! I'll come back and edit if anything changes.

Fantastic little machine!
This was a gift after my VAIO, which I hated, finally quit. It's only been two days, but I'm in love with this little machine! The size and weight were exactly what I was looking for and the touchscreen is an added bonus for the price ($259 w/Prime). The keyboard is smaller than the standard size I'm used to, but it isn't an issue for my clumsy fingers. I don't find the keys hard to press and they're sturdy enough that I don't feel like they'll be broken easily. The screen isn't too difficult to read in the shade, but it does have a gloss that easily reflects light. Indoors there is no issue with glare. This computer is user friendly, but is taking me time to get used to. I've been a longtime Vista and XP user. I don't keep up with technology but have familiarity with Windows and haven't had a problem figuring out how to do what I want. As a graduate student I spend a lot of time on Office, which this machine doesn't include. Google Drive is easily accessible, however. I have yet to work on projects but can tell that the touchscreen is going to help with browsing research and navigating screens, plus it's fun to use! I don't think there would be any interference with the keyboard if a user prefers to use the touchscreen predominately, which I'm finding I prefer to the touchpad. The only minor concern is the touch pad, which sounds hollow when tapping. Maybe I need to adjust the pressure I use, but it's a bit noisy when tapping. My review gives 4 stars for the issue I encountered with a setting that restricted the use of the keyboard. The fix came from Google and hasn't been a problem, but it was disconcerting.

NOT 500GB but kinda alright
I just received mine today and i'm fairly pleased with it. I was almost worried because it was lagging when i first started it up and setting up windows and stuff, but now it's all good. the touchscreen works fine, speed of oeverall computer is nice. it's a pretty good student laptop.there are a few things i was kinda bummed about:1. it is that it is slightly heavy for it's size. i expected it to be much lighter2. windows 8...but that's just personal preference(it took 30 minutes to get rid of all the unnecessary pre-installed apps)3. i failed to notice that the battery is completely encased in the bottom and cannot be easily removed. which means if the batter dies it will probably cost more to replace.4. and i was just looking around and IT'S NOT A 500 GB HARD DRIVE...it's only like 186GB...which isn't bad for my purposes since this is only like a travel laptop for me so i'm not storing much on it....but i'm disappointed because that's what i was expecting

Just What I Was Looking For
You need to think of this laptop as more akin to a tablet. Similar screen size and portability - but something you can load with real software, that is much faster, with a half-a-terabyte of memory, USB ports, HDMI, SD card reader, Ethernet, and a VGA port - all things tablets don't have. I cannot stress enough how important - and RARE - it is to have these port options in something as small (and convenient) as a tablet. It is not the fastest computer I own, but it is by no means slow, either, so don't worry. It is reliable, handy, and capable beyond the inherent limitations of tablet architecture. Almost a hybrid - but far, far cheaper. Since getting it, I have done video and sound editing, PhotoShop, AutoCAD, the entire spectrum of MS Office - almost always with multiple programs running and Googling things. And I have streamed films. It all works just fine. No, it is not as fast as the big cahuna in the next room. If I really need that, I go over there. But for 95% of my needs this little sucker does the trick nicely. No problems at all after about six weeks of constant use. Highly recommended, especially for the price.
