Sound quality is less just average. Not much bass or richnss. But if you are just looking for a speaker to increase the volume of your phone / iPad with slightly better sound quality then it should be fine.

This reminds me of the big CD Players that used to be out back in the day. Only this is so much smaller and cuter. The MobileSounds Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker arrived in good time without any problems. It Is nicely presented in a branded box, which gives the impression that it's a premium product, and looks like it Is suitable to give as a gift to someone as it looks lovely. It comes with a user manual, which i find is really good and helpful. The English is very good and easy to understand, as well as a full technical specification. It also has a gorgeous velour drawstring pouch to keep it in as well as the usual USB cable and Aux cable. I love the shape of it, it so resembles a really sleek CD player I used to have, and I loved that. It measures around 21 cm x 7 cm and is very light weight at around 250 grams. Its made from quality ABS plastic casing and aluminium mesh , it's feels like a solid robust construction. Whilst the speaker is mainly black in colour, it is of a very unique style. This is also available in a number of other colours too. There's one button on the back of the speaker this is to switch the speaker on/off. And a further four more buttons on the top of it. This is so much more than your normal everyday Bluetooth speaker, this will play your MP3 tracks from either a micro SD card or a USB memory stick. It also has a FM radio built into it too. With a 3.5mm auxiliary input socket to enable you to connect your non Bluetooth devices and a jack plug to use your earphones. The Smart wireless speaker with microphone will also enable you to talk to friends on your phone, via the speaker, without holding the phone. Charge the speaker from your PC or laptop via the USB cable provided. Charging time for a full charge is around 2 hours. While the connection range is roughly 10 meters. Play time when fully charged is around 7 hours thanks to the Li-ion battery. When pairing the device, simply press the power button and it will automatically go into pairing mode. Now for the best and most important part, the sound quality, as that's what we all look for most in a speaker. The sound quality is pretty decent considering the size of this little thing. It's got a nice blend of bass and treble to give fairly good quality music. The volume that comes from the 2 x 3 watt speakers is loud enough for any room. Final thought, I would highly recommend this to anyone considering buying one. It's a really good compact speaker for what it retails at, it has so much to offer too. It's great for travelling. I bought the speaker 3 months ago for my girlfriend. (in pink of course) She said "i don't need it - the sound from the iphone is good enough!" but i decided to go ahead and instead of buying another gift voucher i bought this speaker. When it arrived i was quite sceptical - it looked way smaller than in the pictures and it feels a bit light/cheap too. I wanted to try it but had no real chance since my gf was around most of the time. So i just charged the it and and passed it to her on her special day. (Funny side note; When she unpacked it she said "you ass, is it a dildo!?" lol) long story short and btt; She absolutely loves her Ellipse. Especially when shes preparing breakfast, dinner and when she is dressing up, doing her make-up in the bathroom. Actually within our flat shes using it everywhere and i think she never used her build-in speaker again for music. She does only Apple Music with the speaker and sometimes shes using it for calls as well (comes hands while cooking and make-up and so). I tried the usb option and the radio too and it runs really nice. I personally don't need those features buy it might be useful while you're on the road and you want to listen to ongoing football matches or so. The main part sound; I was planning to buy this little piece of hardware for my girl and get something "real" for me. Now that i hear this thing a lot i might go ahead and just order another one... A friend of mine as an older Boombox from Logitech and i can't hear any difference (only the boombox feels a bit better when you touch it!) And the best thing is; the sound is not only nice and smooth - it gets really loud! I think for normal events like in the flat/house/garden/park its more than enough! Only if you try to get into a "club level" you might look for something much bigger. Overall: + sound + loudness + functions + look + attachments (didnt even mention them - see product description - it was all there! + battery life (we tried only around 6h before charing but it might be even longer) - feel (not bad but also not special or so - like a regular alarm clock i would say) The overall value is more than great so i can't give anything else than full 5 stars. Way to go!

Es gibt besser klingende Bluetooth-Lautsprecher. Schönere. Wertigere. Gibt es vielseitigere - mit Radio, USB, SD, Kopfhöreranschluß, wechselbarem Akku (+ deutscher Bedienungsanleitung)? Ich behaupte mal: nein. Habe jedenfalls keinen gefunden, der zugleich auch so unkompliziert zu bedienen wäre. Was nervt - und das gleich zu Anfang: - bei Bluetooth blinkt unaufhörlich eine blaue Lampe im Gerät - der Ein/Ausschalter befindet sich auf der Rückseite und ist haptisch einfach nur primitiv - der Begrüßungston ist ein schrilles Piepen - die Radio-Sendersuche ist ein Ratespiel - die Lautstärkeverstellung ist durch Doppelbelegung der Tasten mit vorwärts/rückwärts schlecht gelöst. Zunächst mal: Die Koppelung mit PC (Windows 10) und Handy (Android) lief wie am Schnürchen. Und auch alles andere - Radio, USB, Audioeingang und Kopfhörer - wie am Schnürchen. SD habe ich nicht ausprobiert. Der Kopfhörerausgang liefert einen sauberen, schönen Stereoklang. Und auch das Umschalten zwischen allen Möglichkeiten läuft 1A. Das habe ich schon alles ganz anders erlebt. Radio: Ich las hier oft, dass der Empfang miserabel wäre. Kann ich nicht bestätigen. Ich wohne südlich der Elbe von Hamburg im Altbau mit dicken Wänden und habe sofort ein Dutzend saubere Kanäle mit dem MobileSounds Eclipse 2 abfahren können, sogar NDR Kultur, der recht schwachbrüstig ist. Der Radioempfang stimmt mich äußerst zufrieden. Allerdings muss man raten, welchen Sender man gerade gefunden hat, da es keinerlei Anzeige gibt. Verarbeitung: Hat mich überrascht. Ich erwartete ein optisch billig wirkendes Plastikteil, das nach Chinafabrik riecht. Aber nein - sauber verarbeitet, die Anschlüsse fest und mittig. Edel wäre zuviel gesagt, aber solide und nett und frustrationslos ist nicht übertrieben. Das Design braucht sich nicht zu verstecken. Automatische Endabschaltung: Gibt es nicht. Zum Glück. Manche finden es toll, wenn sich so ein Teil von alleine nach einer Viertelstunde verabschiedet. Ich nicht. Denn so kann man es z.B am Notebook egal wie gekoppelt lassen und direkt als externen Notebook-Lautsprecher einsetzen, ohne befürchten zu müssen, ups, hat sich in den Standby oder ins finale Aus versetzt. Klang: Ok, der Bass haut einem nicht in den Bauch. Wenn man Klangvergleiche anstellt zwischen Geräten wie JBL Charge 2+/Bose Soundlink Mini etc. oder vorher seine heimische Anlage beim Röhren hatte, dann kann man sich schnell zu den Frustrierten gesellen. Wenn man Techno/Trance hört und dazu tanzen möchte - stellt sich Depression ein. Aber wenn man sauberen, klaren Klang erwartet wie aus einem guten "Küchenradio" so mal eben zum Hintergund, Nachrichten, Hörbücher ein bißchen Pop und ja, sogar ein bißchen Klassik, dann wird aufs Brot geschmiert. Egal von welcher Klangquelle - der kleine ovale Eclipse liefert solide in jeder Lautstärke ab. Dabei mag er es, etwas näher an der Wand dran zu sein und nicht mitten im Raum. Aber der Höhepunkt zum Schluß, wie es sein soll: Kann man beim JBL Charge 2+ oder den Bose Soundwundern den Akku wechseln? Nö, Akkuende=Ende. Manche sagen sich, ist mir egal, kaufe ich mir den nächsten. Okay, also noch mehr Müll. Der kleine Eclipse hat einen Akku, den ich auch in meinem Nokia-Handy verwende und den es für 5 Öcken nachgekauft gibt und der für zarte ca. 10 Stunden vorhält. Nehme ich mir doch gleich für unterwegs noch einen zweiten Akku mit... Geht's noch praktischer? Neben den Punkten der Kritik (siehe oben) bietet die kleine Pille soviel Funktion und auch einen angenehmen Klang, dass ich 5 Amazon-Sterne gebe. Fazit: Ich bin zufrieden, weiß, dass akustisch deutlich mehr geht, aber keiner der akustischen Mehrgeher liefert wechselbaren Akku + Radio + fehlerlose Koppelung egal ob per Kabel oder kabellos in so einem minimalen Gehäuse. Wer kein High Fidelity will und Bluetooth-Speaker gegeneinander abgleicht, sondern wer ganz einfach einen einigermaßen angenehmen Sound aus einem kleinen Gehäuse will inkl. Radio, USB, SD - hier ist das Teil. Alternativen? P.S.: Der Akku hält bei mir sogar eine Woche. Ich nutze den Lautsprecher inzwischen als ständigen externen Notebook-Lautsprecher, d.h. er ist ca. 8 Stunden täglich in Betrieb, spielt die Systemsounds, zwischendurch mal Musik oder Videoklänge sowie etwas Radio. Also ungefähr ein bis zwei Stunden täglich tatsächliche Klangwiedergabe. Bei dieser Art des Betriebs, bei dem er eigentlich nur nachts ausgeschaltet wird, läuft das Gerät mit einer Akkuladung gut sieben Tage.

Auch nach sechs Wochen bin ich mit dem Gerät sehr zufrieden, was ich gar nicht so erwartet habe. Die Qualität und das Design gefällt mir nach wie vor, der Sound ist kräftig und gut, kein Gepiepse. Klar, hier tönen keine 50 Watt, aber für den Alltag, die kleine Runde oder die Präsentation ist das Gerät einfach super. Wichtig war mir der Kopfhöreranschluss, um Musik vom Stick oder vom Speicherchip zu hören. Gewöhnungsbedürftig ist der Auswahlschalter für die Betriebsart. Aber durch Ausprobieren (Abspielen vom Stick, vom AUX-Eingang oder des Radios...) hat man es schnell raus. Die Verpackung benutze ich immer noch zum Transport, das beigelegte USB-Kabel lädt das Teil überraschend schnell. Und dann hält der Akku ziemlich lange. Diese Rezension ist nun sehr positiv geworden, aber was soll ich negatives schreiben, wenn man sich klar macht, dass ich einen guten Medien-Lautsprecher in der Hand habe und keine riesen Stereoanlage.

Anfangs hatte ich so meine Zweifel, ob so ein kleines Teil tatsächlich gut Musik wiedergeben und vielleicht sogar mit einer normalen Anlage konkurrieren kann. Aber: Es kann! Ich bin hin und weg. Ich suchte nach einer Alternative zu einer normalen Anlage, die wenig Platz braucht und mir dennoch die Möglichkeit bietet, nach Lust und Laune ganz individuell Musik zu hören. Das Design ist schick, der Zwerg kann sich sehen lassen. Die Inbetriebnahme ist absolut unproblematisch, Akku kann über Usb geladen werden oder, so mache ich es meistens, per Adapter meines Handyladekabels (Samsung S4). Aber so oft muss das gar nicht sein, denn der Akku hält echt lange durch! Erkennung über Bluetooth am Handy erfolgt bei mir ohne jedgliche Probleme und innerhalb von Sekunden kann es losgehen. Bluetooth aktivieren, Lautsprecher an, Musik starten-alles sehr intuitiv. Alternativ ist sogar noch ein Radio integriert und es gibt einen microSd-Steckplatz! Bluetooth-Reicheichweite ist meines Erachtens nach auch total in Ordnung. Alternativ ist auch die Verbindung über einen Klinkenstecker möglich. In Zeiten von Streamingdiensten wie Spotify oder Deezer eine echte Alternative zur klassischen Cd oder mittlerweile sogar mp3. Klar, wer jetzt einen Megasound mit Bass und sonst was erwartet wird sicherlich enttäuscht sein. Aber für jeden Tag, als Hintergrundmusik oder Begleitung beim Kochen, bei der Hausarbeit oder im Büro ist dieser kleine Lautsprecher absolut tauglich! Zudem ist er so kompakt, dass man ihn überallhin mitnehmen kann, gerade jetzt im Sommer zu Garten- und Grillpartys oder das Schwimmbad megapraktisch! Ich bin jedenfalls begeistert über die vielen Möglichkeiten und möchte ihn nicht mehr missen! Zu dem Preis absolut unschlagbar!
