Generously sized and well made. Very comfortable for adult and child.
My son is 3 but I still carry him a lot for the school run and when walking the dog as he’s a slow walker and I find the buggy cumbersome. I bought the Beco Toddler carrier to replace my Beco Soliel - the two carriers are identical except for the size. I have happily worn my son in the Soliel for the past couple of years. He has just about outgrown it now - although he’s still well within the weight limit, his legs and body are a bit long and wearing him for extended periods of time was getting uncomfortable for me. I looked at a number of toddler carriers by various manufacturers, but having already owned the Soliel I decided to go for the Beco Toddler knowing that it would be well made and comfortable. As soon as it arrived I could see the size difference from the baby carrier, and once I had my son in it on my back, the difference was easy to see. The panel reaches right up to his shoulders and he is supported knee to knee. This means that carrying him is effortless as he cannot lean back and his legs are well supported. The shoulder straps are easy to adjust in the back wearing position as they pull forwards. I have not worn my son on my front for some time due to his height as I can’t see over his head to see where I’m going! However, the Beco straps can be crossed for front wearing meaning better weight distribution and a comfier wear - I have previously owned an Ergo which does not have this feature and the difference in comfort is huge. My son is obviously very happy with his new carrier as he almost fell asleep in it just while I was trying it on in the house!I’m also pleased that the toddler carrier has the same waistband pocket the Soliel does as it’s really handy to put my door key and phone in. The carrier does also come with a detachable pouch to keep stuff in although it’s only easily accessible if you’re front wearing unless you take your child out of the carrier or you have someone else with you, but it’s a decent size and a useful bonus feature. If I had to grumble about anything with the carrier, it’s that I can’t easily get the sleep hood up while back carrying as the loops to attach the hood are quite short which means you need to be quite flexible to be able to grab them and pull them over your child’s head. However, it’s just about doable and it’s easy enough to tie a ribbon to the loops to be able to grab them more easily. Also, depending on the build of your child, I would say that a 20lb child (the minimum weight limit) might still be a little small for this carrier. My son is around 30lbs and average in height. I think at 20lbs the carrier panel would have been much too tall for him.
