If you own a dog, buy this without thinking about it. You'll thank me later. I don't leave reviews often, and I never thought I'd be leaving a review on a pooper scooper, but never-say-never, right? I have 3 cats and religiously clean their litter box, without any issues. For some reason, dog poop I just can't do. I lived in fear when I took the dog on a walk that she would go on our walk and I"d make a spectacle of myself in front of the neighbors. When we walked, I'd keep her always moving never giving her a chance to stop for anything. We were both miserable. Then, I found this gem - how does Amazon even know what I need before I do? When she goes, I just put the bag in and scoop and seal. It's that easy. Literally, don't even really have to look at it. And I love that once I've tied the not, it's securely in the scoop, which means I come home and just drop it in the trash can. While our walks are only about 30 minutes, in those 30 minutes I can't even smell it. (I'm sure longer periods of time and/or depending on your breed/dog size may cause variations.) But seriously, this thing is amazing! I love how it also has the clip, I can just clip to the leash and go. It's so fast and easy! Two comments, that are in no way complaints, just things that I wish if the seller makes a newer model they take into consideration: 1) The clip that holds the bags doesn't always stay put. Sometimes, when I pull a bag out, the door opens. No big deal, and it seriously requires almost no extra effort to just hold it closed, but maybe a more secure clip could be used next time. (But I love that this thing also holds bags! They have literally thought of everything!) 2) I have a puppy, who will grow into a large dog. I bought the large size, which I think will be large enough to hold the waste, but I worry that the actual gap opening might not be wide enough. On another model, I'd love to see a wider 'gap' to position over the poop. But seriously, if you own a dog, buy this. It is 15 dollars well spent!

While these are a life saver for the dog walks for those that appreciate a less sensory experience picking up after their pups, the quality is "ok". The scooper it self is fine- great actually, but the carabiners are poor quality. I've replaced two units so it's clear I appreciate this design, and I finally ordered this larger size for my super pooper hound. These hang conveniently on my leashes and make the scooping, knotting and tossing extremely bearable. The new problem to solve is where to get bags big enough to fit the larger size. Regular 9x13 bags are too small. Finally, I just ordered my own higher quality carabiners.

I'm one of those guys who will not pick up after the dog by using just a bag around my hand. So gross. A scooper is a must-have for me. My 10-year old heavy plastic scooper finally broke, and that manufacturer apparently went out of business. I'm so glad I tried this DogBuddy scooper. It's awesome. The plastic is so much softer than my old one. I have mine leashed to my leash handle, so it hangs down near my leg when I walk the pooch. The old would clang so loudly when it would bump against my leg once in a while. This new scooper is much quieter if I accidently knock it against my leg or anything else. My jumpy dog and I appreciate it. The spring is not too over the top, so it opens easily. I like the way the bag storage works with being able to pull from the outside, and I really appreciate that there is an instruction video since it works differently than my old one! The little tab/grabber hole thingy works great to help get the bag on. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that the expandable side doesn't like to stay fully expanded. If you breathe on it, it will partially collapse. But with the large size, I don't really need it to stay completely expanded...it would probably expand fine on its own if necessary.

Get this product. We got the "large" size of the Dogbuddy pooper scooper. It's not very big. But it is perfect. About the size of a large pancake, but not the size of a dinner plate. Anyway, we are taking care of someone else's dog for a while. He's a sweet natured American Staffordshire Terrier but he is a poop factory. At first, We were just using grocery plastic bags like we use for our Yorky, but this dog... well everything is on a grand scale. Even with a plastic bag around your hand the bathroom breaks on the daily walks were the most disgusting part of the day. This pooper scooper has saved our sanity. Prepare by putting the whole contraption inside a fresh supplied plastic bag (more about that later), open the jaw of the scooper, and push some of the bottom of bag up into the "mouth" of the scooper. When it's time, open the jaws wide, push down around the poop (press firmly against the ground) and let the spring powered jaws close. You really only get "one bite at the apple" because if you open for a second bite, everything you got the first time will fall out. So, you will develop your technique rather quickly. Now everything is trapped inside the bag which is partially stuffed inside the jaws. No smell, no touching anything. With the jaws still closed, Peel the bag down so that the scooper is now visible and tie off the bag. You can still leave the jaws closed until you get to the garbage can. Open the jaws wide and drop it in the can. WAYYYYYYY better experience by using this product. Warning though: if you get the "large" size of this scooper, which I recommend anyway, don't buy the replacement bags (Earth Rated Dog Poop Bags) you will see in the "items often bought together with this product. They are about 9" x 13" and too small. You will be able to squeeze the scooper inside the bag, but you won't be able to stuff any loose bag into the mouth of the scooper, the bag is too small for that. These 9" x 13" replacement bags might be good for the small size of this pooper scooper but but not the large size. Rather, get the replacement bags made by the manufacturer of the scooper, the DogBuddy Pooper Scooper Refill Bags LARGE size. Then you will be set. Get this product!!!! This gadget works.

This works fine for picking up solid dog poop. If you try picking up soft poop, you’re gonna have a bad time and probably end up with poop on your hands when you go to tie it. The carabiner it comes with broke after a couple months so I replaced it with another cheap one that has lasted for a while now with no issues. The one it comes with must be made out of the stuff you use this device to pick up. After about five or six months I noticed that the hinge for the bag storage had weakened and opens up with too much vibration. I’ve lost a couple rolls of poop bags without realizing it due to this. You also can’t see the roll inside without opening it up, so if your dog takes multiple poops, you might run out of poop bags prematurely. It’s also fairly inconvenient to carry around. Attached to the leash it swings around a lot but is the best way I’ve found to carry it. Attaching it to your belt loop is just annoying. It’s a rather cumbersome device to carry around while walking the dog. All that said, unless you’re really afraid of poop, you’d probably be better off getting one of those fire hydrant poop bag dispensers and doing it the old fashioned way. Or if you have multiple dogs, the expanding compartment can fit a few full bags of poop in it which is nice.

Awesome! We were temporarily in an apt and needed to scoop our dog’s poop when going on walks. These (the larger and smaller size) made this so much easier!

I was looking for something for walks because as soon as she discovered walks exist she'll always ssave her business for when we're moving now. I have to make sure to always take two bags with me when I leave because there's a fifty fifty chance she'll split it up into two different stops while walking. I don't like leaving stuff and forgetting bags too, I don't want to be that person. This is all to preface saying this is the last scooper I bought because I haven't needed another one since then. It has a little roll of bags right within and I clip it just on my belt and carry it along. It's great for the two stop problem because you use it once, and that actual movement is like a spring loaded clam shell type thing so you stop once and the bag is in it and you clam shell it up and it's spring-loaded close so it stays in the bag in the shell. You stop for a second and you can just do like you did before and open it and pick it all up together on one. I've always found it's plenty large enough for anything, then I just twist the back up and tuck it back in and you just carry it home in the shell. The bag is tucked inside an the opening is like folded o er the clam opening so nothing ever touches the clam shell it self, just the bag on the edges of the shell. The only thing I can say was annoying very rarely was using it in any sort of longer grass sometimes. The edges of the shell are just flat so it sort of just clamps down on the grass and all and you have to try to just get the droppings within ripping a bunch of grass out. It's ntl that big of an issue though I've gotten pretty used to managing it. For that reason it'd be nice to have the edge be more clawlike so when you pick something up the points on the sawlike edge guide it through all the grass so you can pull out just the mess and not a bunch of grass too. It's not too bulky even when there is stuff in it either and matters a lot of you have it clipped onto you. Overall I'd honestly buy another one if something happened to mine and I'd really buy another one if it was slightly upgraded to be shaped like what would work, that would be neat.

I have tried many and this is the best one due to the unique size of the medium. This actually holds standard sized bags without being too large. Highly recommended

My mom loves to walk my dog and get her exercise but she does not like the feeling of picking up dog poop. She absolutely loves this product. It's easy to use and works great!
