How do reflective materials differ? Spherical, prismatic, metalized, colored, encapsulated?

They generally differ by brightness, durability and cost. Spherical has tiny spheres like cat's eyes. Can be colored back (10 cd) or metalized back (300 cd). Prismatic are tiny inverted prisms when metalized and encapsulated can get to 700+ cd

What surfaces can I apply these to? How do I prepare the surface?

They work best on a smooth flat surface that is clean. Use rubbing alcohol to ensure it is clean. A slightly rounded surface usually works (like a bike frame), but sometimes you need to hold it overnight (rubber band )if the edges are popping up.

Can I remove them later? What about repositing?

We use a strong adhesive that adheres stronger over time. It can be repositioned fairly easily right after application before pressing hard. To remove later you may need scraping tools, goo gone and/or a hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

How is retro-reflectivity measured? What is 330 candle power?

330 candela (or Lux) per square meter is a measure of the brightness of reflected light from a source at a specified distance, intensity and angle. The angles are meant to simulate angles from headlights to a subject on the road to the driver.
