High quality knife steel
Good quality steel - no pits or cracks. This is a bit harder than 1095 to work but will be worth the effort.
User
As described and good quality
Great for what was needed
User
Perfect size to use for knife makers

Good steel, but not cut to length listed
The steel itself looks good, hot rolled, price is good, but length is off and I see no way to contact the seller without leaving a review. The dimensions are specifically listed as 1 1/4” wide - correct. 1/4” thick - correct.Length is listed as 12” but all four were under that. The longest piece was under by 3/16”. The shortest piece was just barely over 11 1/2” - *note the pictures* - which might not sound like much, considering these were cut with a bandsaw, but I don’t think it’s fair for the customer to have to get undercut pieces because they weren’t properly measured to begin with. When using a bandsaw, if anything, you cut slightly over your specifications for that very reason - you lose about 1/8” to the cut. Instead, they passed the savings (or lack thereof) on to the customer. These are specifically to be made into throwing knives. What I’m making requires specifically 12” of length. Not 11 5/8” or 11 3/4”.It’s not quite something I’d go to the trouble of repacking and returning them over, but it definitely is an inconvenience for me and gives me absolutely no wiggle room whatsoever.I don’t like leaving negative reviews because everything else is good, but the measurements are all under the listed length of 12” so I feel a bit gypped.

Not so American everytime., with a name like like patriot steel??
Not America quality everytime. The piece I received has a 1/4” bow in its length of 11 1/2”.I would like to do an update on my purchase. Patriot steel reach out to me with an apologize for the 5160 piece of steel I received and reassured me that it does happen from time to time and offered me an adjustment to my account, which I excepted. I will not hesitate to buy steel from Patriot in the future.

Good so far
Seems to be good steel. I've made several knives, and they were what I'd expect from 5160
User
Great for knives
What can I say… it’s 5160 and works and acts just like 5160. If you want to practice making knives and want a known reliable and cheap steel you can’t go wrong. Super easy to forge since it comes in a nice thickness and width and each bar goes a long way.

Good product
Good product worked well for what I needed. Was delivered fast so no reason to not give 5 stars, only thing that could be improved is if there were more size options for Length, that would have saved me some time having to forge weld just to have enough steel, i needed 19"x2"x0.25" so a 2ft option would have been nice.
User
Got what it said
Seems to be I got what it said as far as I can tell. Not going to lab test the steel myself or anything but it is steel of the advertised size and weight so I trust the quality is probably what is advertised as well, no point in it not being.
User
Not quite as advertised
Steel is fine, but not quite 12 inches (I need full 12 inches) and rounded blade sides which means to straighten and get a sharp back of the blade I have to lose over 1/16 of an inch on the back side. Was cheap, will keep it for another unintended purpose...
