Excellent laser with basically no assembly required
I've had 3 other lasers before this one and let me tell you, it's unfair if you get this as your first laser. You should have to assemble a janky cheap one as sort of a rite of passage before you upgrade to something this ridiculously ready. Assembly is basically done for you. Just hook up a couple cords and put the laser on the mount and it's ready to go. It took me a little while to get the driver downloaded but that was on me. It's already included on the tf card that comes in the machine. Once I got that figured out this machine is a sinch to use. Look at this video. This is like 5 minutes into messing with it and I got a super clean cut through the plywood they include. You'll also noticed how fast the 40w can make that clean cut. I'm pumped. It's going to be so fun to use this. The enclosure is fantastic, funnel all your smoke out a window and don't worry about onlookers hurting their eyes. Sure the fan could use a little more oomph but it does what it's meant to. Just give it a few seconds when you're done to clear out the smoke or buy an upgraded one if you want. The air pump works great. It's pretty quiet and it's connected to the machine so you can use the dial on front for more or less airflow and you don't need an extra outlet. Last but not least, check out how cool this think looks! Its guaranteed to make your workshop look higher tech and futuristic! For all the stuff that comes included, this is an excellent value in my opinion. Definitely fast and accurate enough for production for a small business. I've had other genmitsu products like CNCs and they've been excellent so I bet this laser will last a long time without issues too. I'll update the review if I run into any problems. I was just so excited about how cool it is I had to leave a review and let everyone know right away.

Perfect Entry-Mid Laser; Great Support
Excellent machine, comes almost fully assembled and is ready to use in minutes. I’ve been cutting 1/8” plywood for a few hours a day for the last month and have had no issues with the laser getting weaker or not cutting as well. Very easy to use with light burn, looks sleek on the workbench, and is able to go significantly faster than other lasers I have used. Everything is assembled well and seems strong and sturdy besides one of the plastic cable hood downs that broke, but it didn’t seem necessary to have in the first place. Update 1/16/26: Laser is still going strong. I’ve cut hundreds of 12x12 sheets of plywood and a bunch of black acrylic. I also use it to make pattern outlines on leather and cut gasket material. I haven’t ran into anything it can’t do that other diode lasers can. Diode lasers aren’t meant for metal, but it does work okay on engraving some with a marking paint. I clean the entire laser and the head regularly. I couldn’t figure out how much should take apart to clean the fans so I contacted support. Within two days I had a full off sent to me on how to clean everything. I then had an issue with one of the screws stripping when going to clean the laser module fans. I contacted support and they responded immediately with the proper screw size and where to find them. Excellent machine, excellent customer support. What I’ve come to expect from sainsmart! The alignment and camera are spot on, I never expected to use the camera but it makes life so much easier when lining up pieces of leather. With lightburn it homes itself when the program opens and maintains its positioning unless you bump it. The belts have stayed tight and I haven’t even had to replace the lens yet. All in all I am very satisfied with the purchase and have already gotten my moneys worth out of it.

Poor quality, nonexistent support. Does not live up to claims.
Terrible product, nonexistent support. Does not live up to claims made by manufacturer and their material sheet. Recommends engraving wood at 36000 and 100%, but barely makes a light mark on balsa wood. More like 25000 at 100%, a very large discrepancy. Does not cut steel or engrave it. The tolerances on this are embarrassing, the lid does not sit flush, laser leaks out underneath a rather large gap between it and the bottom frame. The camera is impossible to get to stay calibrated, as the cheap hinges, non flush lid, and poor quality lead to a constant shifting of the camera angle. It does not cut accurately, frequently being 2-3cm off from the light burn position. It also does not match the scale given. Example edge to edge or a gap from the edge, it either comes out too small or too large consistently. Sometimes it cuts random non existent lines. I have spent about 20 hours trying to get this to work, and have sent emails to support with no reply. There is no phone number. Go somewhere else.

Works Great!
I bought this 40w laser to replace my couple year old 10w laser and wow, what a difference in quality! While my first laser was great for learning on and such, it doesn't hold a candle to this behemoth. With the enclosure, not having to wear those glasses anymore is fantastic. The camera can use some adjustments, but is still better for lining stuff up than no camera. It definitely speeds up the process of setting up. Having air assist is a must! It makes my projects come out so much cleaner. Performance wise, it's fast. With four times the laser as my old one, it breezes through stuff that used to take me much longer, or not able to even handle at all. So far, I've cut and engraved wood, leather, and acrylic all with great success. The only issue I've had with it is that on a rare occasion, the cable that attaches to the laser can get in the way of the wheel and cause it to not move. I haven't looked fully into yet, but I'd assume it's just about moving it slightly so it can't get that close to the wheel. I should also not, that it only happens you are trying to laser the very top center edge of the bed and again rarely happens even then. Overall, I would say price wise, is the best bang for your buck when looking at other comparable models.

nice laser cutter. has a couple of things to improve
1) good value...very good. Good size too. 2) precise 3) easy to set up. 4) cuts very well 5) totally worth the investment. 6) PERFECT for cutting 3mm, 4mm. The cons: 1) The smoke removal fan is loud and not that powerful. After hundreds and hundreds of cuts, i am concerned the power is not as good as day 1. I used to be able to cut 3mm ply at 15mm/s at 100%, now after 300 sheets cut i need to cut at about 13mm/s at 100%. Unsure if its air assist is just less powerful (wearing) or if laser is waning. 2) Biggest con: There is a stupid indicator telling you that you have proper air assist on. If you start the machine with air on, it will show red. so turn off machine, turn off air assist. start machine. turn on air assist. light is green. but....half the time I forget to turn on the air assist and totally run a whole sheet of ply. 3) spot size bigger than comparable co2 machine. 4) cutting thicker than 4 or 5mm seems to burn the edges of the board more than you would think. not beautiful brown like 3mm cuts. you get charred black edges. I would buy this machine again. I own a larger co2(60 watt), and this machine is so easy to use i favor it over the larger co2 laser. The spot size is smaller on co2. but the ease of use and convience of this laser is just great. I use lightburn as software, works very well with this laser.

Great Laser Machine
This company is wonderful and the machine is excellent. The first machine the laser had a malfunction and the company sent me a whole new machine free of charge.

Solid built Diode Laser
An awesome machine. Solid built, packaged so well that it is difficult to unpack. Includes everything necessary to get up and running with the exception of a computer. Quiet air pump, cables, and several sample materials included. The only downside is the acrylic enclosure is on the thin side and requires a little care to avoid damage. I had a minor issue with the built in camera connection and contacted support. They were quick to respond and the issue (my error) was resolved. I have engraved wood slices and granite style coasters using Lightburn software. The camera makes positioning the item to be engraved a simple task. A real pleasure to use and as a previous CO2 laser user this diode laser is a far superior design, more accurate, and easier to operate.

Powerful and user-friendly
Really impressed with this engraver/cutter. I had a K 40 CO2 laser before and the simplicity of use with this. The fact that it works with LightBurn has a camera doesn’t require water cooling and as you can see in my photo will cut through 1 inch pine in a single pass Has greatly impressed me. I do recommend this product.

Best Value on the Diode Laser Market Today
You will not find better value for money in the diode laser market today. This L8 40 watt laser is an upgrade for me from a 5 watt laser module. Genmitsu is a great company to deal with. Always prompt to give support when needed and very knowledgeable. Paired with Lightburn this engraver simply can't be beat.

Don't bother with this one, it's not well designed
I've used and built a number of laser cutters. I returned this machine. Laser spot is poorly focused, over 0.2 mm. This is much larger than advertised (0.07 x 0.13), resulting in blurry engraving and inaccurate, smoky cuts. It does not operate like a 40W laser should. Material cut instructions from manufacturer’s website are inaccurate and do not work; machine does not cut or engrave cleanly. They tell you to use the 18mm focus for cutting thin material and it produces horrible smoke and bad cuts. Camera cannot be properly calibrated due to flimsy case design. Materials cannot be accurately and repeatably cut. The thin plastic top bounces around every time you open it, and the camera is in the middle of this. This is a silly design choice and the camera doesn't even show the whole work area. Laser focusing mechanism is poorly designed, difficult to use, moves the material, and is not repeatable. Unacceptable for professional use. It's a bolt on a rail that doesn't slide easily. The laser head is very heavy and if you just let it drop onto the material it will be too low and you can't move the head at all. Cheaper machines have autofocus, why doesn't this one? Honeycomb grid is poorly designed with no air gap, leading to smoke buildup on back of material. This is a very bad design choice, the metal plate under the honeycomb is right against it; you can't clean it and air can't circulate. It's almost as bad as not using a honeycomb at all. Protective film difficult to remove from bent edges, leaving machine looking unprofessional. A nitpick but annoying. Laser head can bump into internal brackets, causing loud noises and possible damage. The 40W head is so large you have to be careful with its vertical position or it will clonk into things. Air pump sensor poorly calibrated, does not report air flow correctly. This just didn't seem to work at all. Genmitsu may have thoughtful CNC machines, but this laser cutter is poorly designed and half considered.

Nice Engraving. Steep Learning Curve. Design Flaws.
This is my first laser engraver, so the learning curve is steep. The instructions are lacking (other than basic set up and information) and requires a lot of searching online. Setup is easy though as its mostly assembled - picking off the protective film over the acrylic was the worst part. Once calibrated and you get a basic understanding of the machine and settings, it produces some very nice work. The freebie coaster shows a cartooned image of me riding my EUC. There are some design flaws that could, and should, be rectified by Genmitsu. 1) Protruding screws on the honeycomb rear left rail bracket contacts the roller causing it to bind. Luckily, I had screws that were ~1mm shorter in my parts bin which fixed it. 2) Raising the built-in feet for extra clearance (e.g. roller use) causes the laser head to potentially collide with the front left rail honeycomb bracket (which is now floating above the honeycomb). I used a permanent marker to note the height where it would strike the bracket. If it does strike, then the head will not close the limit contact switch (which as bad luck would have it, it did!). Not good! A fix would be for Genmitsu to invert and shorten the 'hook' to prevent it. May try 3D printing a fix. 3) There are no grab handles to raise the machine for extra clearance. Instead, you have to grab the sharp wobbly acrylic, which also may stress and fracture it over time. I'm 3D printing handles that can be fastened to the acrylic opposite the rails which is firmer for easy lifting. I'll likely add some trim to the sharp acrylic also. As its raised, laser safety could be an issue as there is now a gap of several centimeters. A sliding piece of acrylic at the front would mitigate the risk somewhat. Due to the size of the machine, I have it in the corner of a corner desk, so the gap is quite visible from the front. Lastly, there is no mention by Amazon or the manufacture that if you want to return the machine, you're on the hook for return charges which could be 30+ days before a refund is issued. I almost sent it back with the irritating flaws, but decided to fix the issues, as it does engrave well. Amazon did confirm they'd reimburse the shipping charges (Prime) over the paltry $3.99 offered automatically. This is potentially misleading, and I'll believe if and when I see it. Buyer beware!
