I’m 37 and I grew up playing Nintendo games. I’d always play as Peach when I played Mario Kart, Mario Party or just SMB with my brothers. Now I have a 4 year old daughter of my own. I recently gave her my old Switch Lite when I got my OLED so she’s been starting to experiment with games like Paw Patrol etc. but ever since we watched the Mario movie she has loved Princess Peach so it seemed like a no brainer for us to get this to play together. Some games like Paw Patrol I can kind of let her play with minimal oversight but since she can’t read and not all the lines are voiced she did need some help but that’s fine because I fully enjoyed playing this WITH her. I was fully engaged in it with her and it was awesome. She would light up every time we got Peach a new costume. She would get so excited at the costume reveal! When I first played the Ninja level I was blown away by how much fun I was having. She did have me do the more challenging parts for her but as we were playing the first sword fighter level she kept getting hit and dying and the game asked if she wanted to use a heart charm which gave her an extra 3 hearts as a buffer and that was enough for her to finish the rest of the level. Once we beat the first floor boss, a little theet character was stationed in the middle of the floor that we could speak with to either take off or put the heart charm back on. Also, she kept dying trying to defeat the cowboy level boss and the game offered her the option of trading like 25 coins to beat the level in lieu of defeating the boss- so this game is a PERFECT introductory game for younger or first time players. It has a lot of fall backs and the “consequences” of getting knocked out are so minimal and you don’t lose a lot of progress. But there are a lot of cool things to search out for and once you beat the game you have the post-game content challenges like beating the the bosses again without taking any damage. After my daughter went to bed my husband and I would turn the game back on and keep playing lol. We’d go back through the levels and find all the missing stars, bows and ribbons that she may have missed and amassed her some extra coins and cleared some levels so she could have the feed on of running around to whichever levels she wanted for fun. Being able to replay the levels means that you can take more than once to 100% each one and you can let you child think that they’re the ones who 100% it the first time lolI honestly have had so much fun with this game and playing with my daughter. Like I said, I gave her my switch lite but we have been playing this docked in my switch OLED and I let her use a third party pro controller which has been more than fine. While I think anyone who appreciates Nintendo charm will appreciate this game, I do think adults who play a lot of skilled games might find this a bit boring. But as a family game or anyone who has maybe played only Animal Crossing and some Mario games may really really love it. It’s not for lack of content or creativity- it’s just simplistic gaming. You only ever use 2 buttons- jump and action. Beating bosses boils down to just timing your jumps perfectly and it initiates a “Zelda Breath of the Wild flurry rush” style action thing where Peach does some super cool action sequence by just timing your jumps and action button presses. My husband would watch and be like “how did you do that?!” Because it looked super cool but all I did was time my dodges lol. It’s fun but simple. A great before bed game for grown ups and an EXCELLENT family game or first game for kids or newcomers. It has Nintendo quality so unlike a lot of third party or multi platform games it is very well optimized for Switch and looks great. I’m glad my daughter has a new found love for Peach and I’m so glad we have a game we can play that isn’t just overly childlike and boring.Long live Peach!

Simple but fun!
Its a charming game definitely aimed at a younger audience, but there is plenty of variety in the gameplay and works as an introduction into game mechanics for children. It has that Nintendo Polish to it as well, everything looks great and plays smoothly.I would say as an adult it can feel slow and simplistic but obviously that isn't the target market, and equally it is still cute fun!
