Works, but apply with high quality grease
First, these are the same as all of the others sold here - it seems like there's one factory making them all and they're just being re-branded here. I wouldn't believe their images showing that they're somehow superior, that's all theater.Second, it actually took me two attempts and two different sets to get this to not be worse-sounding than the original. My first set I just installed and it sounded horrible. I tried all kinds of lubrication (petroleum jelly) to no avail. I basically gunked everything up to the point of no return/fixing, my ropes were saturated with all of the things I threw at them.My second set - and what worked for me - was using some high quality grease (Quicksilver 8M0071838) out of the gate. Before installation, I removed the rollers (two on each side) and proceeded to lather the posts up with grease before putting the rollers back on. Additionally, I took the new ropes and used a dry bar of soap to "dry lube" them. Installed, and no more noise. We'll see how long it lasts, but even if I have to re-apply grease every so often it's a win over that horrible noise. I think that the thick grease effectively dampens the otherwise-vibrating rollers, which leads to the loud harmonics in the springs.

Like O.E.M.
This is the first spring link that has ever broken on me in my several decades of owning dishwashers. I opened the door, the spring went "sproinnng" and the door fell open--hard! Scary. I thought it had broken a spring. When I pulled the dishwasher out from under the counter, I saw that it was just one of the nylon cords that was broken. Why did I get this kit rather than one of the others listed on Amazon? Because even though they are all listed as Part #8194001, the picture on this one showed that the ears on the nylon earpiece were bent down at 45 degrees (where the nylon rope comes through). That matched what I have on my dishwasher. The pictures on some of the other kits show a straight earpiece, and some of the other reviews said that the nylon ropes in their kits were shorter than the original. I don't know about that. All I know is that I have 2002 KitchenAid with original part #8270022 (it's molded into the side of the earpiece) and this Kit #8194001 fits like an O.E.M. The ear angle was the same, and the nylon rope length was the same. My dishwasher door works perfectly. Actually it works better than before. The door no longer groans when I open it. Obviously that earpiece has been going out for awhile (and was rubbing against the side of the door), and it finally gave out when the last bit of the end broke through.

Broke after only 2 years
I figured I would save a few bucks by purchasing this but I wish I had spent more and gotten something higher quality now I have to do the job all over again because of cheap parts. We have a family of three therefore our dishwasher probably gets less use than most and this still broke after only 2 years of use.

Looks exactly like the factory part!
I had to get creative installing mine because I am not able to pull my dishwasher out but the dishwasher sits on 2x4 shims so I was able to get my arm underneath and my hand along the side also from underneath. I didn’t need to replace the pulley, just the string and clip. I had to attach the spring to back first and then the end of the new string to that spring and pull the spring with string towards the pulley and thread it and clip on. Not the way you are necessarily supposed to do it but it worked. It took an extra bungie cord to use to hook on the spring and pull to give that extra “give” while I attached the clip on the dishwasher door. I then removed the bungie cord and applause, finished! I was quoted $278 to have a professional come do this. So glad this mom was able to figure it out!

This kit worked great and was a really good value.
It was exactly what it said it was. It has been in for about a month and it does loosen up. It felt brand new right after installing. I am assuming that it will stay at this level of resistance, now that it has been broken in.

Bracket problems
Used this product when one side of my dishwasher had a broken door cord and wouldn't keep the dishwasher door from falling. Like everything, I Youtubed how to do the repair. I completed the repair and the cords worked as advertised with one exception. The door made a horrible noise whenever you opened and closed it. I tried all the Youtube tricks to fix the noise: I had high hopes lubricating the cords with vaseline would fix the annoying sound but it didn't. I even tried lubing up the bracket wheels to no avail. I also used spray lubricant, no luck. The thing that finally fixed the noise...was taking off the new brackets and installing the old brackets with the new cords. Instant silence. Recommend the company figure out a way to get rid of the annoying noise.

Works
OEM recommendation for my dishwasher, but I found them to fit less well than the original; not sure how well they'll stand the test of time, but functional for the time being.

Saved me tons of money
Thought I would give it a try and replace this myself. I mean since the repair guy wanted $100 bucks just to come to the house. All this took was the removal of 2 screws and a little work to pull the dishwasher out. After that it was less than 5 minutes.
