On my way to be a jukebox hero
Like anyone who's ever wanted to learn to play the guitar, once you're smitten by it, you want to practice as much as possible. Well, I can't carry my guitar to work, but I can carry this little baby in my pocket or leather briefcase. Whenever I'm at work, and I have a few minutes to spare, such as when the computer is building my new software update, I'll take this portable chord trainer out and practice my fingering. It easily expands to around 17 or 18 inches. It's very light and the strings are about right in their size. My first time pulling it open was a little too aggressive: I pulled the black cover off. No problem. I simply aligned it and slid it back on. So, be careful of being too excited and opening it a little too enthusiastically. Speaking of the little black cover, it is there to help balance and hold the chord trainer solidly in your hand, but honestly, if you've ever had the desire to play the solo from Foreigner's "Jukebox Hero", or any guitar solo, that little stretch of black plastic satiates the need to play air guitar pretty well.Ahem, well, anyway...The strings are more gentle than my electric guitar. I don't have to depress them very hard and they don't cut into my fingers. I hadn't played the guitar in awhile and lacked the typical callouses any seasoned player has. What's really nice is that I get to strengthen my fingers, especially my pinkie as I reach over the strings to play various chords.Maybe its just me, or maybe not, but I sometime find myself getting a little sloppy on my finger techniques while playing my electric guitar. Well, again, while I'm at work, I can sit down during computer compiles and methodically execute a chord pattern, paying close attention to clean finger placement. This all works for muscle memory. The reason for the initial three (3) star rating is that I wish it were a tad bit heavier, but for the price point, it's a pretty good product and purchase.I'll update this later when I have had more time with it. This looked like a great idea
This looked like a great idea, and it may still have some potential. Unfortunately, the strings kept loosening up as the screws never seemed to hold the tension. I had to return it.
