Practical & Hilarious
So the main reason I got this was as a joke gift for my husband who keeps asking me for a new spine every year when I ask what he wants for birthday/christmas/whatever. His back always hurts and I laughed pretty damn hard when this arrived and I gave it to him LOLThe second reason I got it was because it was freaking cool. It has uses, such as amusing decor for the home, helping my kids with anatomy of the spine (maybe they could use it in a science project, how cool!), and my mom's husband is getting spine surgery soon and this model really helped him understand what the doctors were saying about the operation. The quality of the spine is great for that of a model of a part of the body. The stand it comes with is pretty stable...just don't try swinging this thing back and forth or it'll topple over

Model for explaining spine features
Not a spine expert but this model seems to have all the elements used by medical professionals to explain 'back problems' to me in the past. I think there is a small bulging disk on the model in the lower spine, included for demonstration purposes. Look in the photo with this review. The model is flexible to an extent (as is the human spine). The stand keeps the model upright and on display quite nicely. The two upper femur 'bones' come packaged separately in a bag and are attached with finger screws through the pelvis. No tools required, and they are easily removed if not needed.
