Super bright light, tough and durable, USB rechargeable or 3 AAAs, and pretty good looking!
There are lots of headlamps out there competing for your dollars, but this one might be the best I've used yet. First, of all, you are probably looking at it because it is rechargeable - it comes with a battery pack that you charge by USB. You do have to open the back of the light (easy, just snap it open) and plug in the USB. I originally wanted a light that I didn't have to open to recharge, but it is easy to open it, and this design gives you one massive advantage - if you are away from home (camping, for example) and your rechargeable battery pack goes dead, you can take it out and pop in 3 AAAs and you are back in business. As for using a headlamp for jobs around the house, my biggest complaint has always been having to use a battery powered light that is great when I have fresh batteries, but after the second or third time using the light, the batteries are half-spent, and I'm gritting my teeth as the brightness begins to slowly fade to the point where I can barely see a thing. I'm not the cheapest guy in the world, but I hate to throw away batteries that are only half spent. Now, when I'm done a job, I plug this light back in, and I get to have full light for every job that I do.Its really good looking. Not that it matters, but it is. More importantly, it has a very powerful light (200 lms), and is simple and intuitive to operate. Its easy to dim if you are needing less light, change to red light, etc. The red light is pretty puny if you use it a lot. You can twist the ring around the lens to concentrate the light from close-up, or to pin-point that animal that is stalking your tent from100 yds away. Its made of very tough material and has pretty robust waterproofing. If you want one lamp to work well for hiking, camping, working on your car and around the house, you won't be disappointed.P.S. On a side note, please be prepared for the packaging - it has the light mounted on an almost life sized face of a an older looking heavily bearded man. The light, and I'm sure the packing as well, is designed in Germany, and in that country, I think he is meant to represent the rugged explorer type, the kind of guy who solo treks to the South Pole. However, in my neck of the woods, he looks a lot like one of the homeless guys who talks to himself and bothers us for their spare change when we go downtown. Different perceptions, I guess...

Bright, rechargeable hybrid (can remove rechargeable pack and use AAA disposables if away from home)
Bright, adjustable, and I love the fact that its rechargeable because it never have to deal with 1/2 dead batteries. If you're like me, you don't like to throw out disposables, and you keep using them as it gets dimmer and dimmer until the light gets obnoxiously low. Now, I plug the light in after every extended use, and I have a fresh bright light every time I use it.The second brilliant design feature is that if you are away from home on a multi-day camping trip and you run out of juice, the rechargeable battery pack comes right out and you can pop in 3 AAA disposables to keep on trucking...or hiking, or whatever. The rechargeable pack usually lasts me an entire weekend of backwoods camping with moderate use, but I take a set of disposables just in case. The disposables do last longer, at least twice as long. But, around the house, I always use the rechargeable pack to power it because most jobs are less than an hour of continuous use. When it does get low juice, the light blinks red, then shuts off pretty quickly to avoid damaging the battery pack.I gave it a 4/5 because I find it can be slightly uncomfortable at times where the back of the light presses into my forehead. This usually takes 20+ minutes of continuous use, regardless of how much I loosen the band. The other slight issue I had is that the band was mostly white, and gets dirty very quickly if you're working on your car or doing carpentry. Its not hard to take the band off and it cleans up fine with hand washing with dish soap. I ordered a second light for my wife, and her band was mostly blue and needs less washing. Overall, I can't find a better all-around headlight out there, and to me, its well worth its slightly premium price.

comfortable - but not great battery life
Powerful, comfortable - but not great battery life, and the door to the battery compartment snapped, forcing me to tape it closed. They have said I could mail it back for a repair / replacement - but I use it nightly for dog walking, and we're in the dark winter here in New England---updateThey replaced the battery door and shipped it back - with a new plug, cable and battery! Very impressive.

Simple and Amazing
Best product I've ever worn on my head! Designed the way it is, its really in a class all its own. I love love love that the battery is built in to the front and there's no wires or external battery pack. I love that it has a rechargeable battery with optional 3aaa's. Its plenty bright AND FOCUSABLE!!! I wear it and use it daily at work. It works like a champ. The white headband is only thing about it that could be improved. Literally any other color would've been better. It gets grungy. I don't care though. The product is simple and amazing!

The LED Lenser Seo7R "Smart Light Technology" dims from 100% ...
The LED Lenser Seo7R "Smart Light Technology" dims from 100% ~ 20%, but won't shut off, even with a flashlight pointed directly at the sensor. The only headlamp engineered with photocell control has no "Dusk-to-Dawn" function, so the light stays on in broad daylight? My trouble with headlamps is forgetting to turn them off, after emerging from dark crawlspaces, until removing the headlamp reveals it was left on all day. However, few other headlamps provide a rechargeable battery pack, with battery saving dimmer, so 5 stars relative to its competitors.

The light is super bright and I like the zoom
Absolutely gorgeous light I ever had. Been using it for two nights fishing already with the AAA battery included and it has not dead yet. I use the included rechargeable battery as a backup. The light is super bright and I like the zoom, you can make it so wide as flood light and zoom it small as spot light, it goes really far. I will buy another one for my dad for his Christmas gift. Thank you very much for inventing such a awesome light.

Poor Battery Performance
I really wanted to give this light 5 stars but:Battery life on this unit was no where near advertised. On it's third charge I had it out on an Ultra trail race on a mountain, expecting to be out for 4-5 hours, and with the rated life I had a full charge and brought spare alkaline batteries. The rechargeable lithium lasted 2:20 min on reactive mode (far less than the claimed 5 hrs) and the replacement alkaline batteries lasted 2 hours. It's a good think I also brought a spare light.LED Lenser has offered to service the light claiming it may be defective. I'll update the review if it comes back and lasts anywhere close to it's rated life.My next complaint is comfort. While the light is light and compact for the amount of light it throws, and the general features work great (lens focus and reactive lighting) the unit feels like a bit of a block on the front of your head. I wore a headsweat type of wrap to give myself extra padding to make it feel comfortable, but on a really hot night this would be unacceptable. Trying my wife's Petzel light on, I found it felt much more molded to your head.

awesome!
Bought it for mechanical work and its great! easy to turn on and off and to adjust focus. Lasts me all day on a charge. Previously i had a problem with another LED Lenser product an M7R Flashlight. the warranty service was first rate. Worth the money.
