Family's Favorite Freeze Dried Meal
Mountain House’s Classic Spaghetti with Beef Marinara is a staple in the world of freeze-dried food, and for good reason. Opening the #10 Can from Mountain House reveals a hearty mix of real ground beef, tender noodles, and a rich tomato sauce that rehydrates surprisingly well! Unlike some emergency rations that can taste overly processed or thin, this marinara has a savory, slightly sweet flavor profile that many compare to an upscale version of Chef Boyardee. The noodles are intentionally cut short, which makes them easier to scoop with a camp spork and ensures they cook evenly in about 10 minutes. From a preparation standpoint, the #10 can is an efficient choice for feeding a family or a small group, offering roughly seven to ten servings. It is incredibly versatile—you can prepare the entire can at once by adding about eight cups of boiling water, or scoop out individual servings as needed for a quick lunch. The 30-year shelf life and 30-Year Taste Guarantee provide massive peace of mind for long-term emergency storage. While the sodium content is high (around 600–760mg per serving), the convenience and reliable "home-cooked" taste make it a top-tier option for emergency preparedness and camping alike. This is the family favorite!

It must have chicken in my pantry
This grilled sliced chicken is definitely something that you should have in your pantry. And you can use it for any chicken dish. Very good quality. It has a pretty good flavor.

Quality and trust this brand
We are minimualist tent campers and most of our meals consist of non perishable items. Sometimes we bring a backpack single burner stove and enjoy a freeze-dried meal. Out of all the different brands we have tried our favorite is Mountain House. Convenient, tasty and fantastic shelf life.

Good solid long shelf life and taste
Use these regularly for backpacking and light camping and this is as good as ever. Long shelf life of 25-30 years and I got these for my kids. Tastes great and easy to prep with hot water and patience. Make sure to stir in between the 8-10 minutes and make sure to use the correct amount of water. Still have other meals from 10+ years ago and they taste just as good. One of the top easy recommendations for long term planning and prep.

Best flavor and shelf stable
Love this stuff and Amazon has the best price. While it may seem expensive, the fact I don’t have to deal with cooking fresh and dealing with the grease cleanup afterwards makes it worth the money. I favor this brand as it has sage in the seasoning. I put it in canned items like pastas and soups as well as eggs and casseroles. Sometimes I just grab a handful and enjoy it alone. One can lasts quite a while but I always have one open and one on standby in the pantry.

Satisfactory as far as I'm concerned
Satisfied with the product. Don't know what people expect from a freeze-dried, precooked meat, but I can't fault it for arriving partially powdered & unseasoned as that's to be expected & I don't want seasoned since I share it with my pets. I added my own seasonings to the soup I made for myself. As for the can being dented, I suspect that happened after it left the processing & packaging area & technically is not the fault of Mountain House. Can was sealed & that's what counts with me.

Filling, stays with me and tastes good
This really "sticks" with me, I'm not hungry for a good while after eating this. I usually mix 1 cup of this with just over a cup of boiling water, cover it and enjoy it about 7 mins later. Besides a meal for the trail, emergency stores it is just a nice quick meal on nights I want comfort food that is quick and easy

This Mountain House Beef Stroganoff is one of the best-tasting freeze-dried meals I’ve tried. The flavour is rich, the noodles rehydrate perfectly, and it feels like a real meal — not typical survival food. Super easy to make, just add hot water and wait a few minutes. The #10 can size is great for stocking up or family camping trips — reliable, tasty, and long-lasting.

El uso es para comerlo en caso de urgencia o si hay falta de comida en las tiendas. Se conserva muchos años.

These beef crumbles are very convenient. I bring them to a boil in chicken stock, along with dehydrated carrots, then simmer for about 20 minutes, then add instant mashed potatoes at the end. It makes an easy, one-pot, soft stew!
