The Practice of Creative Writing: A Guide for Students

This was required material for a university course. I personally did not like the author's way in which she kept using the phrase "good authors." It came across as condescending and judgemental. "Good" is a subjective term. It might have been more appropriate to say, "successful authors" instead, since what is "good" can be decided by what is able to become successful enough to be popular.The content of the text isn't really designed for people who have been writing for some time, rather, it is best suited for people who would like to get into writing but aren't sure how to begin. For them, I think there is a wealth of information they can draw from. But for me, it did not sit well.

This is my textbook for Creative Writing Class. I am learning more than I dreamed possible, about the craft of the pen. This is a really powerful instructive book with lots of practices to learn. There are side boxes of quotes from writers about writing. This book is well-put together. I have faith that taking this class, with this book as guide, will forge me into an interesting and far better writer.

This textbook is exactly as my online class. It's easier for me to read a book than "read the screen" so it is perfect. It also arrived one day earlier than anticipated, even with Covid occurring.

This is one of the best books on creative writing that I've come across. The author is succinct and very informative. Plenty of writing examples abound. I have recommended it to my writing group. A good resource to improve your creative writing.

I t each English. This is the best book I have ever read on teaching how to write creatively! It has many good exercises that really help you guide your mind to write better! I spent 7 years teaching English in China and have so many experiences to write down from my journals. This book helped me a lot!

The book is fantastic. Heather Sellers is extremely inspiring and her book has some very useful information. However, the digital copy is missing page numbers. I got this book for my creative writing class, and I'm having a difficult time following along with my teacher because there are no page numbers anywhere on the book. Considering this is a textbook, it's unacceptable and it's a huge inconvenience. How am I supposed to use it in class if I don't know which page I am on? Macmillan Higher Education needs to fix this immediately.

The book can be used. There are no problems that compromise the content, but some pages are following from the book. I hope that is not a problem when I have to return, because there is nothing that I can do to avoid it. It was already like that when arrived to me.
