Best vacuum for pet hair and heavy dirt!
It's hard to say enough about this fantastic vacuum. We live on a couple of acres and have always had a lot of dirt, dust, and dog hair in our home. This vacuum performs better than any other we've tried. The suction power is awesome, it's easy to use, and the extra-long cord makes moving around a breeze. I have areas with both carpet and hard floors, and the vacuum transitions between them seamlessly. We also have deep-groove runner mats to catch dirt at the doors; most vacuums struggle to get dirt out of those crevices, but this wonderful Dyson Ball Animal 3 gets it done without having to go over it again and again. This is actually my second Dyson—I’m giving my older one to our son because he has seen how great they are. The only issue I have is that because of the height of the "ball design," the vacuum doesn't fit under low furniture. I still have to use a mop or broom for those tight spots, but it saves me so much time everywhere else that I still absolutely love it.

This thing really sucks!! And that’s a good thing.
Had the vacuum for four months. The main thing that I love about this vacuum is its versatility. The variety of settings, tools, the hose extension and brushed or brushless options make it usable for nearly any in-home cleaning task. This vacuum is heavier than some but the suction power is such that it’s noticeably harder to pull across the carpet when the brushes are turned on. As a man of average strength, I have no trouble with the added weight. On hardwood with the brushes turned off and on the lowest height setting nothing I can see gets away from it. I pull a half canister of dirt and hair out of the carpets in my house every week. I almost look forward to it, just knowing how much dirt ISN’T in my house anymore thanks to this thing. The dog grooming tool is worth its weight in gold. My golden retriever fills the canister completely every third day when he gets brushed with it and that’s two bushels (that’s right, bushels not pecks) of dog hair a week NOT on the floor and furniture. What the dog grooming tool doesn’t get, the vacuum itself does. I’ve had known dog allergy sufferers come to my house and have no reaction thanks to this thing. The attachments and hose extension make vacuuming furniture easy. I can vacuum our drapes and blinds with the bristle attachment making dusting super easy. I’ve seen other reviews that talk about the flimsy plastic tool holder, but I haven’t seen any about the holder breaking, and mine is still hanging in there after four months. The only test that remains is to see just how long this thing will last before it breaks. I hope that this review is helpful to those looking to buy a new vacuum. It’s a tough decision to make for the price, but I’ve found this one to be worth it.

Dyson Ball Animal Upright Vacuum Cleaner. Cheap plastic Junk and poor design.
Since we have now owned this Dyson Ball Animal 3 Upright Vacuum now for about 15 months I figure I can write an honest review. So here I go. The good: The vacuum suction is pretty powerful. The Bad: General Design/Quality: Once you assemble this vacuum you can see that it is made of very flimsy plastic. The handle twists as you maneuver around objects. When moving over floor transitions sometimes the vacuum head detaches from the unit. They put the button to remove the vacuum head on the bottom of the unit so if the button catches on any irregular surface the button moves back causing the vacuum head to fall off. What a joke. Then there is the upright lock when you store the vacuum. When you move the vacuum to begin using it you roll it on its rear wheels. When you do this the lock will disengage and the rear wheels snap up. You need to stop, lift the vacuum upright again to lock it in the upright position so you can then resume moving the vacuum where you want to use it. Then there is the ease of cleaning. Like I said previously the vacuum suction is really good. It is so good that you cannot vacuum a rug that is not attached to your floor like throw rugs. It sucks the rug right up so you can't move the vacuum. It does this because the vacuum head automatically adjusts to the surface, there is no manual height adjustment. Then you go get a smaller vacuum cleaner to do your smaller rugs. What good is that. Then there is the hose so you can do your stairs. The hose is an expandable type that can expand like about 15 feet. So with the vacuum at the bottom of the stairs you power on the vacuum, then go up the stairs while extending the hose to get to the top. The problem is the vacuum suction is so powerful that it wants to suck the hose back to the retracted position. As you pull the hose up the vacuum at the bottom of the stairs will tip over, then begin coming up the stairs on it's side. You can't even use the hose at the top of the steps like the manufactures website shows. So we just use our handheld Dirt Devil to vacuum our stairs. Again, what a joke. I can go on and on about how we dislike this vacuum. In summary, I gave this vacuum 1 star because at a pretty expensive price point, we think this vacuum is a total waste of money and a piece of junk...and I am being nice about it. I can tell you we bought this because of the name brand and the fact that our previous Shark vacuum is made so you cannot service them if they fail for some reason. But for the price of this Dyson we could have bought two Shark vacuums and be totally happy with the performance of them and the design. We dislike this vacuum so much that after 15 months we are going to try to sell it at a loss so we can get another Shark. We thought Dyson was quality, but it's design and ease of use is subpar. We will never buy a Dyson again.

Works better than expected.
Works great! Best vacum I've owned though the hose is still a bit stiff and troublesome to use.

Thorough yet bulky
Purchased the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra 03/09/ and received it 03/12 (today). I’ve used it once in one room. I just recently purchased my home and was needing to deep clean, meaning extensive vacuuming/shampooing. There’s not telling how often/thorough the previous owners were with owning multiple cats and a dog. The first picture shows a comparison of the carpet when it is (right side) and isn’t (left side) vacuumed using this product. The second picture of the reservoir shows just how much was picked up from the little corner of the room after pushing forward/back once each, which yielded well. The first picture of the blinds is a comparison between those that have (right)/havent (left) been vacuumed using one of the included tools. The second of the blinds is after both have been cleaned. The 2nd to last photo is after the entire room has been vacuumed. The last photo shows all the gunk that had been collected after going over the entirety of the carpet 3-4 times going horizontally and diagonally. The assembly of the vacuum itself was simplistic yet odd when it comes to attaching the handle to the hose. The included video instructions were straight forward and easy to follow. The suction of the primary base & hose is absolutely great. Hair/gunk seems to filter through to the reservoir with ease and didn’t need additional steps to unclog despite being a pretty demanding job. It performed very well on my thick carpet and picked up debris fairly easily. I didn’t use it on hardwood quite yet but can imagine it won’t have any issue in that area considering how well it did on thick carpet. There are a few things that are for sure a negative when using this particular product but isn’t necessarily a deal breaker to myself but very well may be for others. Do what you will with the following additional information. I am a 6’3 270ib 25 year old man. This vacuum seems unnecessarily heavy and does take a tad bit more effort to initially push than most I’ve used in the past. It’s maneuverability is great, it’s just you can definitely feel a bit of resistance and may tire those of a smaller stature if vacuuming for an extensive period. Another issue I take with the vacuum is the handle/wand. When holding the wand, once you turn the vacuum on, it feels like the suction is so strong on the hose that you are playing tug of war with it. Again for those of a smaller stature, holding the vacuum with one hand and using the wand in the other may prove to be a challenge especially if running along the corners of the ceiling. Your arm will get tired from 1.) playing tug of war 2.) holding a decently weighted hose/tool. Another issue I found which is less substantial is that when you try to roll the vacuum while it’s in it’s stationary 90• position, it’s as if the vacuum is too heavy to maintain the stationary position and base plops down as if you’re about to vacuum. Another thing I found pretty annoying is that when you try to put it into its stationary 90• position you have to lean the vacuuming an excessive amount forward in order for it to reach its locking point to stay upright on its own. I very much like how thorough of a job this vacuum did but feel its main issue is the weight which may lead to other smaller issue. Some personal preferences and couple technical.

Worth it
So happy with this purchase! This is Dyson #4 for us, through the years. About 2 years ago, I changed my mind and bought a version of Miele based on recommendations by many websites and Reddit users. Turns out, not a great vac for me. We have mixed flooring with a carpet that has a deep pattern, a dog that sheds, and I had no idea how much I would hate a pull behind canister. In the end, I was carrying the canister rather than pulling behind, not to mention I had to change plug sites at least 3-4 times during a vacuum session for a reasonably sized home without stairs. It was a “pet version” and I didn’t find it great for actual pick -up/suction of pet hair or dirt. 👎 Again, MY OPINION. In the past we’ve had Dyson, and this Dyson proves similar but… better? It’s not what I’d call quiet, but definitely more refined sound than previous versions. There is resistance in the push-pull when using, which I related to increased suction power and with a shedding animal, it’s what I was looking for in a vacuum. Oh! And I can vacuum my whole house without unplugging or emptying canister. It was easy to put together and Amazon had the best price when I searched. Highly recommend.

3 Stars is based on comparison to previous Dyson Vacuum
We love Dyson vacuums. Our last Dyson Ball Animal Upright Vacuum was incredible. After 16 years, it finally needed replacing, so we obviously went with the same thing. Understand, the vacuum is still great. However, when compared to their earlier version, this has been a disappointment. 1) It is heavier than its predecessor. More effort to push and to carry up and down stairs 2) It has less turn radius. Though still more manuverable than a standard vacuum, this latest model has slightly less turn radius. 3) Inferior upright locking mechanism. The older model had a foot release you stepped on to release the handle from upright so you could begin use. This new version has no foot pedal. Instead, you have to force the handle down, which makes a very loud clunking sound that sounds like something is or will soon break. Meanwhile, it releases from lock too easily, especially if just wanting to put the vacuum away or carry it to another location. 4) The wand is ackward to release and put away. The old version was so simple--just lift and release. When done? Stuff it back in place. This new version doesn't come away as easily and putting it back is more clumsy. We do appreciate that they now equip it with a longer cord, and certain accessories appear to be an upgrade, but overall, we're really missing our old Dyson and hope they take note and return to the elegance and light-weight ease of use the older models offered.

Cleans like none other, truly doesn't tangle, well worth the investment.
TLDR — Powerful, effective, and actually gets the job done in a house with two large dogs that shed year-round. Lots of useful attachments along with upholstery hose. Does not tangle, easy to assemble. Large canister capacity. Quieter than you'd think. Heavier than cordless. PURCHASED MODEL: Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra MY HOME 2 large dogs that shed year round: Golden Retriever and Dalmatian. Golden leaves hair balls all around the house, with hairs that embed into rugs that tangle and collect in all the nooks and crannies of a vacuum easily. Dalmatian's short hairs are like spikes, and will stick to all cloth furniture. WHY I BOUGHT THIS VACUUM I have used many vacuums in the past, including ORECK commercial vacuums, cordless Dyson V8, Roomba, and most recently a Shark Pet Premium (IZ363HT) cordless. These vacuums were either too weak, gets tangled easily with hair and fur, or collect dirt and grime buildup easily. I was tired of never feeling that the house was really clean after using these vacuums, and their performance continued to diminish over time because of these issues. I finally decided that it was time to invest in something that would get the job done and would last me over a long period of time. ASSEMBLY The assembly process for this vacuum was so extremely easy. There are only 3 main pieces to assemble: (1) The floor roller head to the bottom of the machine, (2) the main vacuum handle that you'll use to drive the machine, and (3) the telescoping wand into the upholstery hose. I was up and running within minutes of receiving the vacuum. Components snap into each other without the need for any tools, which also means that it is easy to disassemble components for any needed cleaning or maintenance. The included washable filters are easy to access, which is a huge plus with animals as they need to be washed regularly to prevent that doggy/animal smell that old, under-maintained vacuums have. SUCTION POWER & NOISE Your mind will be blown by how powerful and effective this vacuum is. The Dyson Ball Animal has the most powerful suction amongst all of Dyson's current products, and its suction power is comparable to my 6 horsepower shop vac, which is great for cleaning up big messes but lacks the floor roller attachment for rugs. As a test, I vacuumed my main living room rug with my Shark cordless pet vac, and then ran over it again with the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra — and it still picked up a full canister of pet hair and dust. That said, the suction is almost too powerful. Be careful with fragile or old rugs, because it can potentially damage it if you don't have it on the right setting. When in doubt, keep the floor roller on the furthest setting for the highest-pile rugs and disable the roller, which you can do with a push of a button. For such a powerful vacuum, the noise level is surprisingly manageable compared to many other, less powerful machines. The only time it gets super loud is when using the "Tangle-Free Turbine Tool" attachment with the spinning detangling rollers, as the rollers make extra noise. HAIR DETANGLING The Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra has a large, adjustable floor roller (for different surface types) with a built-in comb that keeps hair from tangling, and IT WORKS. Between all the hair left by people and pets around the house, this vacuum stayed completely tangle-free; I have not once had to clean off the roller in nearly a full month of use. CORD OPERATION, WEIGHT & MANEUVERABILITY After using cordless for so long, I thought switching back to a corded vacuum would be a pain. This was not the case, thanks to the Dyson's extra long 32.8ft cord. The vacuum itself is on the heavier side if you are used to cordless vacs, coming in at 17.3lbs. The design of This isn't really an issue especially with its 13ft upholstery hose. If you need to get into tight spaces with the hose, you can easily detach the telescopic handle and use the vacuum attachments directly with the hose. An additional benefit of having this long, built-in hose is that it makes it easy to keep the vacuum itself clean. The hose automatically activates when the vacuum is fully upright. The roller ball makes it easy to drive the vacuum, and unlike older generations of Dyson's Ball vacuums, the turning is tighter and more controlled, preventing the machine from unwanted turning when you are driving it forward. When lifting the vacuum, you may be tempted to use the main handle on top, but you'll have a much easier time if you use the handle on the canister towards the middle of the unit. CANISTER EMPTYING VS BAGGED There is a compromise here—bagged vacuums are obviously easier and cleaner to empty compared to canisters, but it also means that you cannot operate the vacuum if you run out of bags or if the bag is beyond capacity. Emptying canister vacuums can release some dust, but it also means that you are never going to be stuck without a bag, and there is no ongoing cost to operate the machine. To minimize the spread of dust when emptying the canister, I like to empty into a tall, lined trash bin which allows me to lower the canister more deeply into the bin before opening the hatch. CONS This is one of the most effective and reliable vacuums out there, if you use it properly and maintain it regularly like you should with any machinery. That said, a few things that could be improved are: - At this price point, I would have expected better storage options for all the included attachments. The Ball Animal 3 Extra comes with 4 attachments, but only one tool holder that goes onto the vacuum. This means you have to find a place to organize and store your attachments separate from the vacuum, potentially making them less accessible during your cleaning job. - There are tiny tiny rollers at the bottom of the floor roller attachment, which will have a tendency to pick up hair that gets tangled. This is going to be the case with just about any vacuum out there, but all it takes is checking it after every other use to pull out the few hairs that might have gotten caught. Easy. - Like I mentioned above, the suction can be too powerful, which means you'll need a little extra muscle power sometimes when using it on upholstery to move the hose along, and you'll want to be careful around old or fragile rugs - The upholstery hose wants to stay condensed, so using it when the vacuum is new may take a bit of extra muscle CONCLUSION The Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra is undoubtedly one of the best performing vacuums I have used for housework. It's the right purchase if you have the budget and prefer to invest in long-term equipment vs. spending half the price for something you'll have to replace in a few years, which will end up being more costly to you. If you are in the market for a new vacuum that cleans effectively, this is it!

US NOT UK COMPATIBLE
Please make sure you do your homework on this as doesn't work in the UK without alot of other products as different wattage to US. Even with adaptor plug it can destroy product and blow your electrics

In the description telling is 220V but they gave a 110V.
Sorry for the late review cuz only now I'm using the vacuum, but accidentally I plug it 220V as per the description in Equipment. I cannot find the details about the gadget if it is 110V or 220V, only when I google it. It is under the filter drum. Too late for now.
