I love this book because it has a great variety of savories as well as sweet treats, and even a few healthier options. I love that this book sticks to the more traditional foods expected to be at an English tea party. The book is very descriptive for being so quaint, and has a good deal of info on taking tea as well as preparing it, any cold beverages you might wish to make and serve, and all the foods, each with their lovely pictures accompanying them. Perfect!

What a fabulous collection of recipes! Lovely photos and thoughtfully curated with U.S. measurements, too. I really loved the brief history of tea given in the beginning. Thoroughly glad I added this gem to my library.

I purchased this book because I wanted to have more authentic afternoon teas with my daughter. I made the cake pictured on the cover and it was amazing; the fresh whipped cream icing and the custard and raspberry layers were lovely. The cake itself was a little dense and not as fluffy as I’d have liked, but I may not have used the correct size cake pans. The chocolate cake was delicious, but the accompanying chocolate icing recipe called for caster sugar instead of powdered sugar, which made it very gritty instead of smooth. I’m not sure if it’s bc what we call caster sugar in the states is meant to be powdered sugar elsewhere? Either way, I’m still excited to continue baking from this book (using common sense like using powdered sugar and not super fine sugar for frosting).

The book is a nice size not too big with lots of colourful pictures. I really like sandwich recipes and different tea information. There are many muffin variation recipes which I've not seen in other books but I like this as I like to make muffins. There are easy and more challenging recipes to follow.
