The Archer

First off....at the time of my writing this review there is only one other review written. Please do not be like that reviewer and completely miss the point of this story. This film is not about any kind of same sex agenda like the other reviewer believes.This film is about how "The Archer" and thousands of other children have been sent to for profit detention and behavior modification facilities. Some of these facilities are located within the US. Some are located outside of the US. Either way, a lot of really bad things happen there.This film could have been done better. The story is a bit choppy. We only see part of the story...and we barely see what life in the facility is like. I have a better idea of the missing bits than most because when I was 15 my parents sent me to a behavior modification facility in Mexico (the country...not New Mexico the state). I'm able to fill in the blanks a bit better because of what I had to live through.Two other films off the top of my head that I highly suggest if you have interest in seeing what these facilities are like are Boot Camp (with Mila Kunis) and Cold Water.This film did the best it could with what it was given. The development team clearly wanted to make it quickly and on a lower budget as it was made for Lifetime network. Sometimes they are able to pull this type of schedule off well...sometimes they can't.If you are the type of person who thinks that just because a character is a lesbian they are pushing a lesbian agenda...then please do not waste your time watching this movie. It is clearly not for you.If you are wanting to see a brief example of what kids in our country are suffering through...and aren't going to be bothered by the fact that there's a lesbian...then this movie is for you.This really was based on true events. It would have been told better in a mini series or maybe a trilogy....to flesh out the details of how things went down.Yes, this type of abuse really has and does happen in facilities. Brainwashing happens in these facilities. KIDS HAVE DIED IN THESE FACILITIES!!!!Anyone with the courage to attempt to tell these stories deserves better things in life...and you'd be surprised by how many times our stories have been silenced.

Exactly what I wanted

It wasn't a bad movie but I felt like there were many opportunities to go deeper into this story... character development, stronger plot, commentary on the juvenile detention system. So much it could have done with such a heavy and important topic to illuminate the situation for us. It didn't. That said, lots of great action scenes and it was nice to see some powerful young women characters.I came for Jeanine Mason, whom I have followed since her dancing days on So You Think You Can Dance. I've enjoyed watching her acting career build up and this proved to me her versatility. I just hope in time she'll get better and bigger roles. Although, right now she's a lead actress in Roswell, New Mexico, so that's not a bad gig.Both actresses did a phenomenal job with what they were given. So the five stars goes to the acting.

Excellent! Thrilling and emotional...Woman Power and strength and compassion...a must see!!!

Despite lack of story arc and character background the acting was very impressive specially Bailey did really good job as an archer. I wish there were deep, character evolution. And yes, there are many similiar kind of movies, but I think The Archer has a specific way to give a realistic ambiance. If you looking for a good/free time movie The Archer could be your choice.

I saw this at South by SouthWest in Austin,Texas last year. It packed a lot of current issues into an Indie film, and is even More current with the news buzz of suppressed power hungry individuals who demand sexual favors from "lowly" individuals. In this movie you must see how the LADIES take back their lives. Loved the Lesbian ...... overtones... Awesome to see an "Orange is the New Black" star in the film- Bill Sage !! All the OITNB fans need to watch. Can't wait to see Bailey Noble and Jeanine Mason again. Whether it be a major TV series or Movie on Big screen they will be fan favorites.

Bad men take advantage of young women, news at 11. Story line was somewhat predicable, but the setting was interesting and there were some twists. Movie ran kind of short and wished the characters got fleshed out a little more, focused a little more on life in the camp. But I guess that is good; wanting more.

I absolutely love Jeannine Mason. I rented this knowing that it wasn't going to be a great movie based on the premise and low budget simply to see Jeannine in a movie. If you are expecting high quality writing, editing, and performance, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a guilty pleasure, you will be satisfied.

Ich sah den Film im Pay-TV und wollte ihn gern haben. Leider war er selbst nach intensivster suche nicht auf Deutsch aufzutreiben, also gab ich mich mit einem US import zufrieden.Der zweite schock: Man bekommt diesen film aus dem jahre 2017, nur als DVD! Sieht so aus, als ob der TV-Anbieter den Film in Eigenregie Synchronisiert und Hochskaliert hat.Das traurigste: Es ist die wahrscheinich Liebloseste DVD die ich je gesehen habe. Ein screenshot als menu, alles stumm, nur eine play und kapitel option, obwohl massig platz auf der Scheibe. Das bild selber kommt einem eher wie verwackeltes 480p statt DVD ueblichen 576p vor. Viele Pixel und bildartefakte, besonders bei schneller kamerabewegung.Mir ist schon klar, das es kein riesen-Blockbuster ist, aber man haette doch vielleich 2 minuten mehr zeit in die erstellung dieser DVD setzen koennen, da sehen doch mit Freeware selbstgebastelte DVD's vom eigenen rechner besser aus.3 Sterne, weil ich den Film nur haben wollte, und der Verkaufer schnell und prompt versendet hat.
