From the manufacturer Vitrail Cerne Relief Introduction Vitrail Cerne Relief is an outliner that can be used alongside the Vitrail Glass Paints to create a stained glass effect. It is applied directly from the tube to draw patterns before applying the vitrail colours and thus, provides a perfect imitation of stained glass. As well as glass, Cerne Relief can be applied to metal, earthenware etc. The outliner range comes in two formats- 20ml & 37ml and are available in Transparent, Transparent glitter, Black, Gold, King gold, Pale gold, Rich gold, Silver, Copper, Vermeil gold and Imitation lead The Vitrail colours come in 36 intense, bright colours (45ml bottles). Vitrail Cerne Relief Applications Pébéo's Vitrail colours are applied with a brush to all carefully de-greased transparent surfaces glass, acetate, polyester, plexiglas. The 26 "antique" Vitrail colours are dense, very transparent and so easy to use. To imitate stained glass, use the Vitrail colours with the Cerne Relief outliners. They are applied directly from the tube with nozzle before applying the Vitrail colours. The Vitrail colours may also be used with the bath technique. Vitrail outliners are ideal for use with the Pébéo Mixed Media range. Before using the Gédéo Glazing Resin, it is recommended to apply a coat of Bindex (8 hours drying on completely dry Vitrail colours (72 hours minimum).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone used this on a vertical surface like a window? The “no drip medium” recommended by the manufacturer for this doesn’t seem to exist any more**
A: I have worked with Pebeo Vitrail glass paints for a while now but only to decorate mirrors held horizontally until the paint has dried. Although I have no direct experience of working with these paints on a vertical surface, I would offer the following comments:
1. The paints do vary in consistency from quite viscous to almost watery (the white for example is extremely runny). The more viscous the consistency, the more obvious the brushmarks.
2. The temperature of the surface you are painting makes a big difference. If the window has become heated by the sun the paint will become sticky on contact and won't flow easily. Similarly, even if you can apply the paint when the glass is cold and has set, subsequent heating of the window in strong sunlight will cause the paint to "melt" a little. I found this when I painted a decorative border on a mirror and decided to take it outside to photograph it. It was a hot sunny day and after 20 minutes of being in the heat, the mirror became quite hot. When I picked the mirror up the paint had become sticky and the finish I wanted was ruined by fingermarks. 
I am talking about fairly large areas of colour here which may not be what you're intending, but as you can see from the above, I'm not sure I could recommend these paints for windows. Good luck though.
