I kept this in my room and I was able to see baby through the side of the cot so it was perfect for monitoring when baby made any noises. The milestones are 20lbs or pushing up on hands and knees and my baby was BIG so it was outgrown at 4 months (95th percentile) but if you have a smaller baby it would last you around 6 months.
