Four Stars
Great CD, two standouts for me the duet with Gregory Porter and the brilliant 'Fairytale ending'

WHICH DIRECTION IS ROBIN GOING ?
Which direction will Robin Mckelle go from here.? Soul Flower interesting Title for this cd in places it most certainly is soulful. Track one So It Goes opens with some beautiful organ playing from the very talented Ben Stivers who plays wonderfully throughout the whole cd.Tracks two and three to my ears are messy and lack cohesion. Then Bang Robin hits us with two killer tracks Fairytail Ending followed by the gorgeous Miss You Madly. Here lies the problem for me with this cd Talented Robin Mckelle clearly is. And how many more cover versions do we need of Walk On By!!!!! And here is where the cd hits rock bottom with a dreadful cover of To Love Somebody written by the Gibb Brothers. Tracks 9 and 10 show Robins band of muscians at their very best with great guitar organ and horn arrangements. Loves Work has a nice feel with Robins voice well suited to a soulful ballad joined by Gregory Porter its not the strongest song but works well towards the end of the cd.The final track on Soul Flower is Im A Fool To Want You which for me is one of the standout tracks just beautiful.Im not sure Robin Mckelle is completely sure which direction shes going. Seven out of twelve tacks work for me .Im glad I have it in my collection but it could have been a whole lot better Robin.
