good phone
The best phone for the value of my money and the quality of the work. Easy to use, good camera and great overall phone.

Excellent budget but
I have been using the Nothing Phone 2a for over a month, and after the initial settling in period of a week (for both me and the phone), I have to say I am extremely pleased with it. It had a few niggles to start, display aberrations, apps crashing and camera stutters, but with but with OS updates, these all seem to have gone. In fact, after using phones from both Apple, Google and Samsung, I would say this is a brilliant budget option. Top tier, mid range performance at a sensible price (£199 when purchased). Definitely recommend to anyone wondering about its merits.

Pretty decent phone considering the price
This is pretty amazing when you think it about it compared to the price. It’s all you’d really ever need in a phone. The design of it looks amazing and visually pleasing, the screen looks good with the 120hz refresh rate and overall it performs pretty well. Don’t get me wrong, it’s no iPhone but it’s not a bad a phone if your looking for a decent cheap phone. Easy to set up as well, only took a few minutes, charging speed seems pretty good to, doesn’t take too long. Only thing is the camera quality isn’t amazing, but I don’t know what else you’d expect from phone with that price. Another small thing is the back of phone seems pretty easy to scratch up as it’s made out of this plastic kind of material. Other than that, this is a pretty amazing phone when you consider the price.

Seems great - but took a few days of getting used to
I'm well used to an Android phone - and in this price bracket, too. When my previous phone started to fail, as it was no longer receiving updates owing to its age I decided to replace it rather than repair it. I plumped for this Nothing2a, a brand I've never used before. I have to say, my instant impression was of being impressed. Everything felt high end. I also approve of the lack of a charger (though a (pretty good) lead is supplied), as most folk have a suitable charger and it keeps down the costs - both financial and environmental. Swap over was, as always, nice and easy. No issues, although one or two apps I had on my old phone it turned out are not supported on the latest Android. Ah well... However, in use, I found the Nothing 2a a bit of a mare. Everything ran nicely and smoothly, but closing apps I'd finished with I found much trickier than on my previous phone - and infuriating at times, to the point of me considering returning the phone. But I persevered with it, and after a couple of days everything is fine and I'm happy to keep it. It just took some getting used to.

Simple, neat, responsive
I was looking for a mid-range phone to run the variety of apps I have loaded, and the Nothing brand had been popping up a lot on my feeds. I didn't feel the need to go up to the Nothing 2 as it was out of my price range for what I needed. Until now I've been settling around the £150-£200 mark on phones and having an okay time - they did what I needed. My Huawei ran for ages but had to drop that one due to limitations introduced. Blackview was where I went next until the phone bricked after about 2 years. So I took a punt on the Nothing 2a. I liked the idea of the simplicity and the price point was not far out of my range to hold me back. I have to say I was impressed from the first. The box was tiny compared to most with a funky embossed design on the inner carton. Paper packaging with the phone, charging cable and the usual small phone guides. Setting up was simple and I easily transferred the data from my old phone, and I was away. Nothing came with almost Nothing - the usual Android/Google basics, and some extras to run the phone and that's it - no bloatware. The interface is clean and responsive, and, having downloaded the Nothing icon pack, I also had a clean monochrome display - something I wasn't sure I'd get on with, but there's no distractions. The options to customise the home screen were the best I've experienced so far - essentially the whole home page is your playground. This is the first time I've been able to organise ALL my regular apps on one page, and I've also had room to add 3 widgets for showing key information, and altered the settings so I have 5 columns, with my most used groups set larger to easily access commonly used apps like MFA. The dot matrix style text is also clear and pleasing to read, and you can switch off the folder names to gain even more screen space. You do have the option of also reverting to the Android style interface if that's more your style, so you are not tied to the Nothing view, but I have no intention of switching! I'm also liking the Always on display option - I can mow have my basic info at a glance without unlocking the phone - time, date, next alarm, and icons to show app notifications, as well as battery level, and flipping the phone over to show the Glyphs, it flashes and minimises the battery drain. The ringtones and notification tones are in the same basic style - not overly keen on most of them, but you can add the composer app and then create your own complete with LED combos, or add in items from your music library, so you are not short of options. The camera is okay for my needs - The front camera does seem to lack some focus close up (trying to capture some text from the back of a device while using the screen to see where I was aiming) but I got round this using the rear camera, capturing a video, then using the in-built tools to grab a screenshot from the video, so problem solved. Battery for me generally lasts 2 days with the always on setup, and around 3-4 hours screen time according to the stats the phone gathers. There's plenty more for me to explore still Overall, even though I've only had it a short time, I am extremely pleased with the phone and I've already added the Nothing CMF ear buds (which for me is unusual as I dislike in-ear buds normally, but I was sold on the option of not using noise cancellation - I'll probably post a review once I have used them in earnest!)

Nothing phone 2a: Nothing But Honesty….
So this isn’t mainly an issue with the phone. There is two niggles. But main issue was the delivery. 🚚 But first things first let’s review the phone. Camera Quality 3/5 ⭐️ Not the best camera, but for the price it’s a decent enough camera, colour tones are a bit off, but still a very good camera for the price. Honestly took some great photos when in Singapore. Screen Quality 3.5/5⭐️ Lovely bright screen, but does scratch very easily and has chipped and I didn’t even drop it, it must have rubbed against something in my pocket. Quite a budget feel to the screen if I’m honest. Sound Quality 2/5⭐️ So, honestly this is the phones downfall… when on the phone the speakers are poor. If not mistaken just stereo speakers, they feel very tinny at times, sound isn’t great. Normal stuff like Netflix or films or even phone calls are average, it is awkward when on the phone, I felt having my phone on loudspeaker was best. BUT like I say for the price you can’t complain. Ease of Use: 4/5⭐️ This for me wow; Nothing Phone their UI is glorious so subtle, lovely black tonnes it’s automatically in like night mode and a lot of the widgets and apps are colour coordinated. It really is pleasing, on top of this it runs quite smoothly, the 120HZ is a huge bonus. But like I say you want a phone at a budget this is something I’d highly recommend. Weight: 5/5⭐️ - light as a feather it’s a good and bad side as I lost it when in Singapore but the bar staff helped me find it hahah. Now to the second niggle. Amazon my word I’ve never been so ashamed to be a customer, I’ve used you guys for a very long time. But wow. The delivery was shocking my wife was spoken to so rudely, when it has to be REDELIVERED. The same day as Amazon failed to deliver it originally… in saying no one was in, but I put specific instructions about delivery. The choice to ignore it. Plus my wife is heavily pregnant. They were nothing but vile when doing the SECOND delivery. Blaming her, and blaming poor delivery instructions. I wasn’t best pleased and it really did put me off using Amazon. This is hence the 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good value for money
Very nice and snappy phone. Excellent camera and love Nothings launcher and UI. The sound (in ear) is also great. The glyph feels more like a gimmick but fun. Should strongly recommend a protective case for the phone though since the phone otherwise feels a bit slippery and considering the plastic frame.
