Dog Approved!
My dogs have tried all the flavors of the grain free dehydrated food. They were eating the fish one for a long time but then I wanted to try a different flavor because I thought they were getting bored with their food. First I'd like to say, they did not like any of the other flavors - beef or chicken. I had to give those away. However, I took a chance on ordering the Turkey and it was a hit. I'm glad, too, because I went through a lot of money wasting this food. They wouldn't even eat the fish one anymore and I had ordered a 10 lb box. Not sure what makes the Turkey one so special but they love it so much that they ditched the fish one. This food has dramatically improved their coat. It took about 2 months but we did see a dramatic improvement in their skin and cost, not to mention how much they love it. For anyone starting out trying this food, I recommend trying a small box of the fish and turkey. The turkey one will swell more when you add semi boiling water to it. The fish one not as much. When my dogs first started eating this food they acted like they had never eaten in their lives, so be prepared cuz your dog will love it. He/she might look at you funny at first but then they'll gobble it down like geeze did I die n go to heaven?! Lol... For me, I still mix a little bit of kibble with it. Remember, this stuff is very nutritious so you might have to cut back on their food slightly.

Great stuff
My dogs aren't picky , however , one has a sensitive stomach and the other needs to lose some weight . Anyway , box came in fine from Amazon . The dried food itself is amazing stuff . Both dogs this morning loved it . I followed 2 cups of dry and 3 cups of hot water , let it sit for 5 mins and added it on top of some white rice 🍚 for the pups . They ate it what seemed to be under a minute. Definitely buying again for health reasons , longevity, and seeing my dogs happy.

Helped my dog with stomach issues
My dog has a sensitive stomach, and I was struggling to find a nutritious food that would also sit well in his tummy. After several trips to the vet (and one to the ER) my regular vet had put him on a prescription food by Royal Canin. After reading the ingredients (soy protein broken down small enough to not trigger an allergy, and other junky fillers), I knew I could not have him stay on this food long term and began searching for an alternative. I found a holistic vet who was able to do a food allergy test and after getting the results, recommended Honest Kitchen Beef. (As a note to any owners having the same struggle as me, I was told by a few different vets that the oil and other products used in kibble - the stuff that actually forms the food into kibble - can itself be extremely inflammatory for dogs' stomachs.)Frankie has been on this food for a month and so far, it's been a total blessing. It's obviously packed with nutrients and doesn't have any garbage. I was worried about the form the food is in when I first got it -it looked kind of gross - but my dog LOVES it. He hasn't had any tummy issues, poops regularly (your dog WILL poop 2x as much as he/she did on any other food), and looks forward to meal time :) I would highly recommend this food, especially if your dog has a sensitive stomach, or chicken/turkey/fish allergies.I do feel like it's unfairly expensive - my dog is 53lbs and I'm spending about $175 a month on his food now. I am sure it takes a lot more money to make than regular dog food, but I feel like it's the same charade as with human food - we'll continue to eat garbage until healthy stuff becomes more affordable. I would strongly urge Honest Kitchen to consider coming down a few bucks. One thing I will warn about is that after you add water to the food, it is not stable for more than a few hours. My dog is the kind of dog who, 50% of the time will eat his food asap, and the other 50% of the time will kind of graze or leave it for later (sometimes, he won't even eat breakfast until dinner!) The few times he's eaten his food 5-6+ hours later, he pukes almost immediately. So, if your dog doesn't eat it within a couple of hours, I'd definitely try refrigerating it - otherwise you end up wasting a ton of money on this expensive food if you have to throw it out after a few hours. All in all, amazing food if you can afford it.

may become very picky dog's main food
my chihuhua mix marcy has been very picky her whole life. when she was a baby her parents' owner gave her and all of her littermates whole rotisserie chickens to eat alongside their normal food, so safe to say she's used to the good stuff and eventually refuses to eat the best quality kibbles i can buy, even when i added things dogs were supposed to love like bone broth. i would have to sit on the floor with her to hand feed her or else she would skip a lot of her meals, which really worried me. I can't afford to feed raw, so i looked for freeze dried alternatives and found this. it took her a bit to warm up to this food, but with the help of some tasty toppers (which didn't really help before, as she would just eat the toppers and leave the rest of the kibble), she eats regularly by herself! This morning she even begged for breakfast, when she's usually lukewarm about mealtimepros:- very affordable on a broke college students salary (for a small dog, that is)- apparently tasty enough to appeal to a dog with taste like a little princess- easy to prepare- doesn't take up a lot of space, but lasts awhilecons:- most of the ingredients in this foods look fantastic, but i have issues with a few of the recipes. Some of them include peas (which i've read may be the reason behind the heart issues that crop up in dogs who eat grain free foods, since legumes like peas or lentils are often used as a replacement filler in them) and garlic (which just isn't that good for dogs to have. I hope/assume its a negligible amount for flavoring, but still), but not all of the recipes include those ingredients (for example, the turkey and beef recipes are all good on that front) so its easy to avoid- the packaging is a little difficult. i didnt get a zip up bag in my box, but that was easy to address with a bag clip. also as you get low on food it gets hard to scoop the powder directly out of this versions box since its not very big, so you'll eventually have to take the bag out and trash the box. this is also not too bad, thoughOverall, i reccommend it!

Great Product
I like this product, thankfully I had used it previously and knew the ingredients and the mixing directions because when it shipped it did not come in its packaging! It arrived loose in its bag!

Really Great, Healthy and Dog loves it!
Okay, so I have a very stubborn miniature Dachshund who will spit out food he doesn't like. He'd rather starve himself than eat kibble he isn't a fan of. We had tried different types, brands, expensive and less so, different meats - you name it. The first time he has been excited was when we tried a small bag of a different brand of freeze-dried food, but they came in pucks which smelled dreadful and were difficult to break apart (not to mention very expensive for what we got), that one kind of upset his stomach as well.I found Honest Kitchen Kibble first, which we started using and he *actually* likes, but when I bought this - it's an absolute game changer. I don't need to worry about watching if he eats the proper amount - he finishes the WHOLE bowl, every time (this NEVER happened before). We split the feeding amount in half, giving one in the morning, other at night. It smells really good, better than any dog food I've ever fed him before. Like, human food nice. It's a pleasure to make for my dog, especially in comparison to other freeze-dried food I've tried. I love that he get's all of the nutrience he needs, and it's relatively affordable considering. Will update a few months from now to see if he doesn't get too bored of it. :)
