I find these much better than scissors, more ergonomic - I don't like cutting with scissors. The spring action makes cutting fabric a dream, the spring does not give any resistance on the cutting action but helps take a lot of the work out of the opening action. Less strain and aches on your cutting hand. I find it is easier to cut a straight line with these and stay straight because my hand has a straighter grip on them. I'm not so sure about cutting a convex curve with them, maybe because they are big or I need to adjust my grip on them. They are light for long usage but not flimsy. The quality is good Fiskars standard quality, they are razor sharp and the cut gives you that satisfying sound as the blades make lightweight of the fabric, although I have not yet used them on any heavyweight fabric, but they have been excellent on pin corduroy, wadding, stretch fabric and silk.
