This is the absolutely best chain saw I have ever purchased and had the pleasure of using! It is quiet. It stays cool. It is sharp. It is not too heavy or burdensome. The 60 volt battery just keeps on providing power. Gone is the day of large and hot ear protection devices. The blade cuts tree branches like a hot knife through butter. The 16 inch bar is easy to manuever where it's useful. There's no hot muffler to get burned on. There's no exhaust to make your eyes burn, nor inhale. I used it for over a half hour straight, trimming branches from live trees, and the battery level indicator still had one bar remaining. I previously purchased the Cat string trimmer, and the battery lasted over a hour. So I will use that battery as a backup power source, if and when the battery goes dead before I do!

The chainsaw arrived as expected and boxed well to prevent damage during shipping. I can't give it 5 stars because upon arrival the battery wouldn't charge. We tried all the suggestions provided in the booklet to no avail. Amazon directed us to contact Cat directly, which we did. We are currently awaiting the arrival of a replacement battery. Since we haven't been able to use the saw, I can't provide any insight into the quality of it. Hopefully it will "run like a Cat" and we will consider it money well spent. I'll try to update my review after we make some cuts with it.

On the first try I was highly impressed about the power of the chainsaw. Up to here I used only Stihl chainsaws and I explained to friends and family how good the Cat chainsaw was. I even bought a blower from Cat which accepts the same battery. Since I did not used it often, now after charging the battery more or less 10 times the battery working time is now 2 minutes, yes its not a typing mistake, with each charge the operation time went down. Now I am at 2 minutes. After contacting Cat support I now decided not to purchase any Cat power tools anymore. I am simply disappointed since I thought I choose a high quality product with of course a high price tag as well.

I've cut down a 16 in diameter pine and some other trees of 4 to 12 in diameter, totally no problem. Cuts like a knife through butter. Only complaint is that the battery lasts for a good hour of work, and recharges in 90-120 minutes. As a homeowner, that's no problem, I can wait and finish the job later, but if you're a heavy user you'd want a few batteries pre-charged to get through a work day. Actually the oil tank which has integrated threads for the cap, the threads just stripped off without me putting a lot of force into it. CAT replaced it for free under warranty. If I bought it again, I would buy it from somewhere other than Amazon because I was apparently shipped an out-of-date model that's probably been sitting in a warehouse for 3 years. My replacement model is up to date.
