This was the first Collagen Powder I used as it was recommended by a friend about 7 years ago. In between I tried other name brands but found Bio Optimal works best for me. I’m extremely food sensitive and there are no unpleasant side effects for me. I put it in my coffee and it dissolves easily, has no taste or odor. I like to keep my protein intake high and this has 9 grams of protein in each scoop.

This product is amazing. After only three weeks I noticed my hair was regrowing! I always had a full head of hair, and over the last 6 months I noticed it was falling out a lot--collecting in the shower drain, collecting in the sink when I combed it, etc. Well, it stopped falling out and now my hair is getting full again. Also, my nails have been cracking and peeling for years, and now they are long and hard. And the collagen powder really does dissolve completely and does nothing to alter the flavor of your drink. I put a scoop in my coffee every morning. This brand was the least expensive I could find, so don't fall into the trap of thinking that something is better just because it is more expensive. This collagen is type 1 and 3. I am going to see if they also sell type 2 as it is for your bones and connective tissue. I highly recommend BioOptimal and this product. And, by the way, I'm 75 years old, so if this was good for me and you're younger, it's going to do wonders for you!

BioOptimal Collagen Peptides, Collagen Powder Grass Fed, Non-GMO Premium Quality Hydrolyzed Collagen This is the first collagen peptide I have used, so I don't have any other product to compare it to. I have been using Biooptimal for nearly five weeks now. My nails are stronger and grow quickly (have to file every 3-4 days to keep them at a manageable level), my eyelashes are thicker and longer, my skin is more hydrated, and my hair is growing faster. I have also noticed less pain in my joints. I bought it primarily to see if it would help the integrity of my hair, such as making it thicker and stronger, but it is really too soon to tell. I'd need to give the product 3-6 months before making that judgment. One downside to the product is collagen peptides tend to lower tryptophan which is a precursor to serotonin. So if you have problems with your serotonin, it will drop it lower, meaning it might affect your mood. Good solutions to increase serotonin naturally, if the product makes you feel wonky, are golden paste (made from organic turmeric, organic coconut oil, black pepper, and water to make the curcumin more bioavailable) or a good quality fish oil. They also help reduce inflammation. Just be careful if you are already on an SSRI or an SSNI, because it could increase your serotonin too much and could cause serotonin syndrome. And golden paste doesn't mix well with some types of NSAIDs like Meloxicam. As for the taste, it is ok. I just mix it in hot water. It dissolves well. I would recommend this product, although I am considering buying a different one that has more than just type I and type III collagen peptides.

The powder is silky smooth and fine and therefore dissolves super easy, I barely need to stir it. I do recommend adding it into a drink rather than putting it in the cup, then adding liquid. If you add the liquid, it clumps a little, but with some stirring, it dissolves. I add it to my hot coffee every morning and there is no taste. I had been interested in collegen for a while but overwhelmed by which one to choose. Based on the research I did, this one seemed to be a good option. Low calories, a number of different kinds of peptides and no extra stuff added. I have been using it every day for a few weeks. It is hard to say if it is making a difference but the skin on my face definitely looks better. It is clearer. I did also start using a heavier moisturizer at the same time so in full disclosure, I have no idea if my skin looks better because of the moisturizer or the collegan or both.

I've been taking this brand of collagen powder for the past 5 years and I am glad I came across this product! The first thing I noticed was that it helped reduce my knee pain. I will occasionally have a mild achy pain in my knee and after 2 weeks of consistently taking this powder, I noticed the pain had reduced to the point that it doesn't bother me. If I don't take my collagen powder for a week, my knees will slowly start to ache again. Then about a month later, I started to have a lot of compliments about my skin. My skin started to look smoother and healthier. Someone even told me I looked younger! The powder does dissolves well in hot liquids, however it does tend to clump up when mixing it with cold liquid. But I noticed using a blender ball/bottle when mixing or shaking vigorously does help the powder dissolve.

I just started my third tub. It is working! How can I tell? I have a short haircut and used to get a new cut every 4-5 weeks. Last two times I needed it only after 3 weeks! And my hairdresser tels me that my hair look fuller. And I need to take care of my nails twice more often now. There are few things to keep in mind. You should educate yourself to have proper expectations. First of all this is type 1 & 2 collagen and it supposed to work for skin, nails, and hair. Type 2 should work for joint pain, so I would not expect it to help with that but who knows. Also you should take in consideration that skin renews in different time period for different ages so you cannot expect any results after only one tub. I think I started seing good changes in skin but need more time to confirm that. Talking about nails, the visible part of nail is a dead part, so you cannot expect see any results until the new part of nail reaches that free state. I also want to mention about the taste. It does has very mild taste. If you are a ‘snob’ about your coffee you will notice that. If you used those creamers than you will not notice any taste change. I also cannot put it in my tea at all. This doesn’t stop me from using and loving it! I just use it in small amount of warm water and take it before my coffee/tea.
