I recently updated my home sound system with a multi-room streaming amp. This amp had 2 extra zones for external devices - an RCA input for analog and a Toslink optical input for digital. My wife preferred her old NUVO streamer to listen to Sirius XM in her bath and was not happy with the new setup. So, I tried to reinstall of the bath NUVO player to the RCA zone of the new amp without success. I then searched Amazon and bought this converter with which I was able to get the NUVO to work using the optical input channel - it sounds great! For $17 this handy LiNKFOR gizmo was a simple solution to my audio problem, and it scores mega-bonus points for getting my wife off my back.

An excellent quality (to my ears) analog audio to digital Toslink converter. Includes USB cord for powering but no power supply. Available with either 1/8” phono plug or RCA inputs to avoid the use of adaptors. Am using as a protective link between a modern player piano accompaniment output and a miniDSP (digital sound processor) that drives the various loudspeakers. Both the player piano controller and the miniDSP are sensitive and expensive and this method prevents an electrical problem with in one system from harming the other. Totally plug-and-play with no setup or adjustments required. The digital output [seems] to have an extremely similar if not exact same amplitude as the analog original. For some unknown reason the Toslink output of my player piano is disabled when an accessory input supplied by the maker is installed so I was forced to add this component for equipment protection purposes. Analog-to-digital converters of this sort are not easy to find. This one [seems] to work perfectly. One note of caution: The power connection is a common size that in my experience is most generally used for 12V-24V power supplies and not well filtered 5VDC as provided by proper USB power sources. My application (a player grand piano with an extensive accompaniment system) has a surprising number of small low-voltage devices attached beneath where like the piano literally everything is black. During final installation and "cleanup" I accidentally connected it to a 12VDC source and it was instantly ruined yet continued to overheat to the point that it may well have begun to melt. Fortunately the very expensive device that got it's 5V USB connection was not damaged.

Works well, I seemed to have had an issue when intially installing it. I actually bought two - one for a different room. The first one I installed in the living room and everything went perfectly. The second one I installed in the bedroom and it didn't work the first time. I couldn't get it to work until I went though all the connections from scratch, so I just have not had something plugged-in all the way or something was loose. I removed this item and plugged everything else in to test and everything worked without it. Then I plugged it back in and everything worked. So if you have an issue with it just not working - try installing it a second time. Would definitely buy again if I need one.

Bought this thing as its exactly what I needed. Worked great for a couple of days, so I threw away the packaging thinking I was ok. Then it stopped working and just gave me static, now I'm out $20. I would look for a better alternative.

This works great, hooked up a soundbar to a super old tv. Downside is you have to power the adapter- comes with usb cord which isn’t very long, but ***you need your own outlet wall usb adapter plug to plug it into the wall.

I bought this to connect my projector to my soundbar as the projector does not have an eARC HDMI port. When I first started using it I plugged in the USB power cable to the built in USB port on my surge protector. The first time I turned on my projector and soundbar there would be a loud hiss/static sound coming out from the speakers that was unbearable. I thought the problem was either from the aux port of my projector or terrible analog to digital conversion from this product. I tried many things to see if I could make the static sound lower and in the end I was able to get rid of it. The solution was to plug the USB power cable into an AC adapter (wall wart) instead of the built in USB port. Tl:dr If you are getting a static or hiss sound make sure you are getting sufficient power to the converter.

I found an Ultimea sound bar that I wanted to use for my PC, but the sound bar did not have a AUX 3.5mm input, but it did have an optical audio input. I bought this analog to digital adapter to hook up the PC audio output to the sound bar. WORKS PERFECT! I highly recommend this and the price is great.
