No, the "sandwich spread" is not the original Kewpie mayo. Personally, I did not like the taste of the sandwich spread. You can find the original Kewpie on Amazon.

are these bottles recycleable?

On the bottom of the bottle it shows a number 7 Other. So, not sure if that is considered recyclable. If you want to use them again for some other condiment, there is a small hole on the top.
