Great Idea But Brads Fall Apart! *UPDATED* replacement brads work great!
I love the idea of this tool. It is easy to use and creates cute paper-covered brads to match your project. BUT - don't touch the brad because it is liable to fall apart in a light breeze. The brad backs (the pointy side) just pop right out of the brad top with the slightest touch. I can't imagine even being able to put a page into a page protector without them popping off. However, there IS a solution. I used 2 layers of "Sticky Strip" adhesive from Stampin' Up (available in retail stores but I can't remember the brand name) on the face of the bottom piece before assembling the brad with the i-top tool. This seems to hold them together just fine. I will keep and enjoy using my i-top tool, but the tool/brads are not the quality I expected and it does require an additional step of adding adhesive.**UPDATE**I contacted the mfr about this issue and they sent me a new pkg of blank brads because they figured I got a bad batch. I'm happy to say that the new brads work great - no adhesive needed! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I recommend this product and if you have any issues - definitely contact the mfr.

Great, but not cost effective
I was really excited to get this tool. I thought it would be really great to make my own brads. However, the cost just is not justifiable. Also, when ordering from amazon.com be aware that you do not get the brad daddies with it. You have to order those separately. I did have some issues attempting to make a nice "clean" brad. However, I went on Utube and watched some videos that gave some tips for it. Hint: If you want a nice rounded edge to your brad then try using slightly damp paper. Like I said though, this tool is great because it lets you make your own brads, however, I would not look at this tool as something to replace store bought brads because of the cost efficiency, however, if you just want to make a couple of really special brads then you may want to invest in this. The cost of the brad daddies are the biggest problem with this tool. However, I got a bulk pack at OhMyCrafts.com (40 brad daddies) for like $7.00. The nice part of this tool is that if you don't buy a lot of brads then you can quickly and easily make your own, but if you use a lot of brads in your scrapbooking or other projects and you just want the simple or designer styles then buying them store bought is more cost efficient.

a nice gadget to have...
There will be certain instances where I will most definitely want to add a little something new to my cards or scrapbook page. The I-top tool will make that possible. It is easy to use and fun to use. For me easy, fun, interesting outcomes is what it is all about.

Product photo doesn't match the product I received
Just received my i-top brad maker, and it only has the rubber bumpers around 2 of the 4 heads. The photo shows rubber tipped heads on all 4 sides, or at the very least the two metal head sides are protruding outward so as to help force the brads together. As you can see from my photos, the two bare sides are flat, so they can't help force the brad together. Additionally, the package is mangled and looks like it possibly had a previous owner. I can't comment about the function of the tool just yet, but I am not impressed with the misleading photo and shoddy packaging thus far.

works great for covered buttons
When I used the "other" fabric button cover kit that comes with the buttons and backings, the fabric always stretched funny and the image would come out skewed. With this I-Top tool, the image on the fabric comes out perfect and it is very easy to use. The first time I used it, I didn't line up the backing of the button correctly and as a result it bent the backing, but since then I have used it without any problems. Very happy with this purchase.

Made fabric covered bridal buttons well.
I used this to make chiffon-covered bridal buttons. I used the smallest daddies which are a bit larger than typical bridal buttons but the tool worked great. I made sure the head wasn't twisted all the way so I could "turn table" it and trim the fabric corners off before sealing the button. 1.5" chiffon ribbon worked good to cover with three layers done all at the same time.
