Breadtopia Wood Pulp Proofing Baskets - Round (Weave)

I have a few proofing baskets, but this one is a bit different. It is like a pressed cardboard so when you flour it, the flour actually stays put. It also, helps when you need the dough to release. Also, when you use your fingers to press the flour into the basket, you don't run any risk of getting poked by some errant sliver from traditional baskets.

This was the only brotform that I could find that was not made in China-- this one is made in Germany. I also liked the "ecological" aspects of it (made from wood pulp that is grown near to the manufacturer, rather than imported cane). I've used it several times to make sourdough, and it performs well. I line it with a tea towel and a hefty dusting of flour. The dough I use is fairly high hydration, and it proofs nicely in this basket. I'm going to purchase a second one so that I can proof two boules at once.

This has been great to proof bread in. Much better than the reed baskets, cheaper and more sustainable! We use it about once a week.

Did not wanted Chinese made item so I bought this one. One the good side it's much thicker then I expected and work well. However, it's arrive as repack item, and there is no mfg info on the basket, so no way of knowing if it's really German made.

These are the smaller size baskets, 7.5" interior diameter, 8.5" total diameter. The larger size is what I was looking for which is 8.5" interior diameter, 10" total diameter. See basket I received and then the basket I ordered directly from Breadtopia. I will say that they gave me permission to return these, but I had to pay for shipping.

I'm new to bread baking and was looking for baking equipment for home bakers. I did some research and thought this would be a good choice, and i placed an order for the wood pulp proofing basket. I received my order earlier than expected, which was great. However, I was disappointed that there were no care instructions provided, for either first time use or for periodic cleaning. The basket had a lot of small pieces of lint (like little lint balls) that grabbed onto the surface. I tried to brush them out since I didnt want them sticking to my dough. I wasn't expecting to have to do this. Not sure if this is suggested but I feel i didn't have any other option. If anyone has info to share on how to clean it, I might raise my rating. But i haven't used it yet so more reviews may be forthcoming.

These things are great. Easy to use. Just don't try to wash it !

I did a lot of research and read reviews before buying this wood pulp proofing basket. This is more expensive than other proofing baskets, and I thought I was getting a high quality product, as described. What I received was cane, not wood pulp, and was poorly made and cracked with splinters, to top it off. 1 star is generous, considering I cannot rate it zero. I have contacted the seller to correct their error on this transaction.
