probably one of the best matchas I've had from amazon. This one is more pricey but sweet and very worth it.

2 WEEKS AFTER REVIEW. PICTURES left can is yame fragrance collection, center is new Chiran masters collection from Naoki directly, right amazon ordered Chiran masters collection muddy color matcha is my first purchase from amazon, the vibrant color match is the same product shipped directly from NAOKI. So here is the low down, I ordered this Naoki ceremonial grade master collection single harvest matcha. To my disappointment what was sent to me from amazon was this terrible matcha that screamed cheap culinary grade being sold as premium new age matcha. The color was dull and brownish that looked like dirt to me. It even felt gritty to finger. My first cup had the sensation of chalk or baking flower in my mouth . The flavor was decent and not bitter but it had a dead taste with no vibrance. It did froth rather well though. In general I was not happy with this matcha and would return if I could. It is the worst matcha I have ever come across and I don’t consider this ceremonial grade, I want to toss it in the trash but don’t want to waste $34+ READ this!!! I email this company with my complaints, they responded within 72 hours and assured me that what I recieved was a mistake and that they wanted to make it right. The took my information and within 1 week they sent me a new container with a second variety to try. Thank you Naiki for the gift! With excitement and anticipation I opened the new can and to my surprise what was inside was a completely different product. It resembled all the other photos and reviews I have read. The color and smell were both vibrant and rich as you would expect from a ceremonial grade matcha. This match froths very well and when you do a smear test you can barely tell its not stone ground. (the manufacture verified its not stone ground) It feels smooth to touch and sticks to everything just like stone ground matcha. My first sip I notice it was smooth and creamy in texture, the flavor was rich and had the umami you would expect from a premium Matcha. And to my biggest surprise was the sweetness that you get. So what I received from Amazon was trash but this company does produce a great product and would recommend you try this product because even if amazon is at fault for damaging the matcha this company will make it right !!! FYI the fragrance yame is good too! just one notch down from this masters collection! Happy buying, give them a try, Ill be back for a second take !

I became obsessed with matcha while in Japan and bought some fresh, high quality matcha there. I had hoped to be able to get the same quality here on Amazon. The matcha I bought in Japan came sealed in tin containers. This matcha came in a plastic foil envelope with a desiccant pack inside. This was packed the tin container. I'm sure that being vacuum packed in a foil envelope makes the tea last longer before it's opened, but it's also quite messy to get the matcha out of it. I didn't have that issue with any of the matcha I bought in Japan since they didn't use these envelopes. None if the varieties I bought in Japan were bitter at all. This matcha, freshly opened, was slightly bitter, but otherwise tasted fine. It frothed well with the wisk. I am somewhat concerned that the matcha was in direct contact with the desiccant, so I probably will not buy this product again.

It's reasonably priced, and it's definitely matcha. It smells, tastes, and foams up like matcha when whisked. I love the vivid green color that shows it was dried with care and while fresh. Compared to matcha I used to get directly from Japan, however, it falls short. When you smell, there's no sweetness, can't taste those notes either, there's no interesting bouquet, it's just a basic matcha. Personally, I'll just finish the container by adding a spoonful of it to my protein shake. I believe that it is matcha and has matcha's health benefits. It's just not good enough for me to bother drinking it neat in the traditional manner. Don't get me wrong, it holds up as a drinking matcha, but for within the family. I would not serve it to company. Hate to be a snob but this is matcha, you should know what you're getting.

I ordered this Matcha on a whim after having recently ordered Naoki’s fragrant Yame blend (which I still have in my supply) and being very pleased with it. Basically I needed a small item that I was getting on Amazon and it felt weird only ordering one item for ~$5 for delivery, so I just added this to the cart and I am very glad I did. The flavor overall is milder than the Yame blend and I’d say that I probably slightly prefer the intensity of the Yame over this, but this Chiran Harvest has the most fluffy, velvety texture of a matcha that I can remember. I purposely am not saying “that I’ve ever had” and that’s because I’ve been drinking matcha for years, including a heavy matcha binge drinking period of a few weeks in Kyoto…so I honestly can’t remember every single matcha I’ve ever drunk — BUT — I will say this: From recent memory, this is the best textured matcha that I’ve had and if they continue to make it available then I will likely buy it again. I do want to try some of the other fancy master’s collection ones though. So I will probably do that first and then come back to this. Anyway, it’s delicious. If you appreciate high-grade matcha, then you will appreciate this.
