Advantages and disadvantages
I had been using a name brand self-propelled, mulching gas mower and was getting sick of dealing with gas, oil, air filters, expensive tuneups, noise, and vibrations. This battery powered mower has relieved all of that and it is far easier to adjust the blade height. It is also far easier to clean the underside since you do not have to worry about gas and oil leaking out. However, it does take some getting used to. It does not seem to have as much power and the battery only lasted 30 minutes while mulching. You have to let an expired battery cool down, and it takes a while for it to recharge. It does not look great when your lawn is only half done. So, I investedanother$120 in a second battery. The main problem though is the self-propelled feature. Every time you make a turn, you have to release the handle to disengage the self propulsion. Otherwise, it will run away with you. You cannot pivot on the back wheels. It is OK going straight, but it is definitely not OK when working around small spaces. It is nice being able to adjust the speed but that also does not work smoothly. I find myself frequently not using the self-propelled feature and the mower is not light. The product literature does not give any suggestions on how to deal with this.It is challenging to use however, I must admit that it is fun. That is why I gave it four stars rather than the three it probably deserves.

A good 40V mower. Will need two batteries if you want assurance your whole lawn will get mowed
I have had this mower for about 2 months now, and the quality seems good. As a 40V mower, it will mow your average yard, with average weekly growth, with one battery as long as:1. You are cutting the cookie-cutter 5000sqft lawn or less2. Your grass growth is no more than a weeks worth3. You are not stop-and-starting the mower a lot4. You are not a slow walker/pusher.If in doubt, I highly recommend you get an extra battery as a just in case. That is what I did, and about 30% of the time, I need to use it because I had to start and stop the mower a lot, or I waited too long to mow the lawn. Also, as a 40V mower, it will not always make it through the tough/thick/high grass in one go if you push it too fast. It will stall-out and require you to back-out and start it again and make another pass. This is to protect the motor from overheating, etc. Just take it slow, and it can handle it, but sometimes easy to forget and go too fast, especially if you haven't mowed in more than a week. If you think thick grass/high grass is going to be a problem, then get their 60v or 80v mower. But for regular lawns, this will work. The other reason I got this mower is that they had a deal where the edger was included. Another good reason to have an extra battery.Extra battery: https://amzn.to/3p8Sdpl

Generally good, but battery performance...
It was easy to assemble and well packed. The flap on the back makes pulling it backwards a pain, but many suffer from this. I suppose a more flexible one wouldn't hold up as well. It cuts very even, the yard looks nice. It is a 21 inch cut, equal to most gasoline mowers. But...Don't expect 40 minutes on a battery, especially if you are using the self-propelled feature. Even being judicious in using it, I found that 30 minutes was about the limit. Actually, that's not completely accurate. At around thirty minutes it starts to lose power and shows just one bar on the battery. I'm still able to let it climb back up the hill and still has juice left over, and I haven't run it until cutoff. If you don't mind taking a break every so often while the battery charges, no problem.I'm not sure why, but the cost of a second (spare) battery is astronomical -- beyond $175 on Amazon. And, there's no special bundle deal when you buy the mower. The battery is nothing special, it's just a proprietary plug-in. So, if you plan on mowing a 100 x 100 ft or more of yard, you'll want to consider the cost of a second battery or plan to take a break while it charges (which takes about an hour, not bad, just long enough to enjoy an adult beverage...).

Greenworks stands behind there products!!
Showed up with a dead battery. When we put it on the charger it was flashing Red so as we read through the owner's manual it says if it flashes red the battery is no good. Very disappointing. So then I got ahold of Amazon customer service and asked if we could just send the battery back and get a new one and they said NO. They won't exchange peices or parts so I have to pack up the whole thing and pack this heavy box around... this seems dumb. So I called the 800 number in the Greenworks owner's manual and after talking with there customer service and reading some numbers off the battery they were able to tell us it was to old and had probably been sitting on a shelf in the Amazon wearhouse for years. The people at Greenworks were great and said they would send us out a brand new battery right away. So very happy with the way Greenworks backs there products. Not so happy with Amazon

Battery Run Time
I'm happy with the mower. Being almost 70 years old and female, I had difficulty lifting it out of the box. I layed it on it's side and pulled it out. The only assembly issue was attaching the handle. Again, layed it on it's side. The 40v battery lasts long enough to almost mow my front yard. Also, how fast you can walk! It cuts evenly. Takes about 2 hours to recharge the battery. I think the battery life depends on the length of your grass. Overall I am happy with it. In hindsight, I wish I had bought the 60v for longer run time. I'd buy one again.
