Great snap on Optic Sight, well made. Was difficult to install in order to slide notch into barrel bead though
Giving product 5 stars. Purchased for Mossberg 590 Shockwave 12 gauge with barrel bead. Made of strong plastic. Instructions say install from back first at 45 degree angle, then press down into place. Problem with that is it is impossible to guess if it will line up correctly with bead. Tried that way and was off 1/4 inch and was at an angle. Nearly impossible to remove from 12GA Shockwave barrel once installed. Had to use plastic putty knife to get under and pry for removal. Tried instruction way 2 times and was still off. Went the other way, started by lining up at bead side, then pressed that into place first. Was a little crooked and not into the notch where bead goes. Was able to press opposite end into straight line, then with small punch and hammer, gently tap front end down where notch surrounds bead. After that, I was able to inspect product. Must say that this fiber optic is definitely a winner. I purchased the green version and even in dim light it is very easy to see. Took it into my basement after dark where I have a small led night light. It was enough to lite the green fiber with no problem.. In daylight or bright rooms, the green optic is very intense and easy to see! I had ordered an XS Trijicon for my 12GA with the bead. Found out in order to install the Trijicon, you have to change beads and use JB Weld and actually cold weld night site to shotgun barrel. Then to remove, choices according to mfg is propane torch or something to heat the JB Weld. Not on my new $500 home defense shotgun! Going that route, if you removed, say bye bye to barrel finish! Don't need a night sight that bad. I was very pleased with this Fiber Optic snap on product. So impressed, I ordered 1 more green and the red version to compare. Will keep extra ones for backups. Sometimes good products come and go, so if something like this, I always buy a 2nd one to stash. The optic itself has a small amount of movement. Will place 1 small drop of clear gorilla glue on bead side which will stop the movement.

Great Sights for 12 Ga Shockwave
For improved sights on my Shockwave I tried a low cost red laser, then a low cost green laser. The red dot was too hard to see in the bright sunlight, and the green worked great but dimmed quickly (overheated?). I could have bought a better green dot laser but didn't really like the extra "appendage" on top of my shotgun that wouldn't fit in my scabbard, so decided to try this simple green fiber optic sight. It is simple, won't quit working, is low-profile, light weight, and is easy to see in bright sunlight so I'm pleased. It went on easy and fits tightly so it hasn't budged. I did spray it with some Krylon camo plastic paint I had on hand to give it a little more eye appeal (the large black plastic piece on the end of the shotgun just didn't get it for me) so I'm very happy with this sight.

great budget conscious front sight
Easy to install and a nice upgrade to the factory bead on my Mossberg 590.

A little flimsy
First, what I don't like: the fiber optic filament is held in place by the little rings on the end of the mount. It moves around a little bit, which I don't like. If it were to snag on something, I'm not sure it would hold up. If they put another ring in the middle, it would be much sturdier without interfering with the function. What I do like: It's bright, and highly visible, even without a lot of ambient light. If you have a decent flashlight on your gun, it'll light it up too, although you won't necessarily need the brightness of the sight to see your target. Also, I was a bit concerned about how tight it would fit, and whether it would hold up to use. It fits very snugly on the barrel of my Winchester 1200 Defender, and has not budged after all the rounds I've put through it. I chose green because I think it lights up a bit brighter than the red, and it's more eye-catching, which puts you on target quicker. If you have a shotgun with a bead sight, the little notch in the front fits right around it to get it lined up properly. Installation could not have been easier. Great product, and a great addition to my home defense gun.

A much needed improvement...
...over a plain, brass-bead sight. Installation took less time than opening the package and really brought the front end of a Mossberg 500, smooth barrel, 12-gauge to life. I found it best to press the fore-end of the sight in first as close to the front bead as possible and then follow up with the rear-end; if you press against the optic itself, the light rod will bend but should not break, but press the unit on using the sight housing just to prevent accidental breakage. It will not slip at all when you butt the unit up against the front bead once completely installed. Although not a night-site, if there is any ambient light at all this sight pops and makes lining up the barrel with the target a lot faster than with a brass-bead sight. I can say all of this for a 12-gauge barrel and I can say it about a 20-gauge barrel as well even though it is obviously smaller in diameter.

Visible
Really nice for what I needed I removed the rail or cantaliever arm and clipped this to the front it snaps on pretty tight and got a little mid sight I made for reference it'll be nice for what I need it for my grounds are more tight spaces and won't be for distance so the red dot I had wasn't doing as much good as a simple green bead attached to the end of 835 it's got the rifled barrel with 3 inch accutip Remington to really give some knock down wish me luck.

Broken sight
The green fiber optic stick broke off from the housing because it couldn't handle the recoil after shooting 10 shells from my shotgun. I had to use loctite to glue part of it back on to keep it steady. I wouldn't recommend it but it does work as a budget sight. The build quality could be much better.

So I found Truglo sight sturdy enough, easy to install so I definitely pleased ...
Tried it on Mossberg 500 12ga 18.5" barrel with 10 slugs It doesn't fall and what most important this sight sits a bit higher that barrel brass bead sight and finally slugs went right on target. Without this sight shotgun was shooting high because barrel brass bead was lower than receiver and it was hard to take a correct aim. So I found Truglo sight sturdy enough, easy to install so I definitely pleased with it. And it will be easy to remove if by any chance I decide to do so.
