Eye-wateringly pricey, but it does the job it was intended for, very well. The cube is very compact in size and does come with a little carry pouch (hidden at the bottom of the box, inside a little compartment). There's also a tripod thread on the bottom, so I utilize that with the Manfrotto Pixi mini tripod. Great for getting the correct white balance and you can also use it to help adjust for the correct exposure in post. I use this in conjunction with Lightroom, so If I have a whole set of photos with the same lighting conditions, I use the test image with the cube to correct the white balance by selecting the grey area with the WB pipette, then synchronise all the photos and in an instant, all my photos are correctly adjusted. Fantastic product.

Small and perfectly formed. Well built. Well designed with all sorts of handy features. Handy little pouch, great instructions on how (or why) to use it for newbies to this sort of thing (like I was) and it doesn't make your subject look like it's holding a test card... Sure, you do need a colour chart for proper, full-on pro-photography, but for semi-amateur/pro it's very handy. Highly recommended - not cheap, but certainly cheaper than those colour charts and does help sort your white balance out still!

It was my first time using the white balance cube, it’s great if you’re taking photos at an angle to show all shade and tone of the cube. The cube is slightly problematic if you’re doing flat lays or Birds Eye view, because the full cube is not in view to do a better white balance alteration, it doesn’t have anything to change the position of the cube.

Absolutely perfect! Works really well. I use it for product photography and sometimes its hard to match correct balance but with this it's super easy! Must have for studio work and in general

If you want to get white balance quickly and easily this is the piece of kit you require. In Lightroom etc you can set black and white clipping easily too.

very nice little cube, well worth buying if you do RAW photos in difficult conditions, I've used other grey cards but this is the best so far

The Cube is a novel, compact and convenient gizmo for adjusting levels and colour balance of photos in post-production assuming you take RAW photos. It is light and easy to carry and looks durable. I use it for macro photography where I have added a spike that screws into the thread at the bottom of the cube - shame one wasn't supplied. My only criticism is that it is a little pricey compared to standard grey cards.

Ich fotografiere seit Jahren fast ausschließlich mit manuellem Weißabgleich. Viele Graukarten wurden schon verschließen, Neutralfilter und auch mit diversen Messgeräten zur Ermittlung der Kalvin-Zahl habe ich schon gearbeitet. Die optimale Lösung ist für mich (hauptsächlich Natur, also outdoor): • Wasserfest • geringes Gewicht • nicht elektrisch (logischerweise in der Natur schwierig und Batterien sind ja immer irgendwie dann leer, wenn man sie am dringendsten braucht) • schnell und einfach in der Anwendung Alle Punkte erfüllt dieser kleine Würfel. In der Anwendung ist er wirklich sehr schnell und sehr einfach und man braucht wirklich nur ein paar Sekunden (in der Natur extrem hilfreich ... Tiere warten bekanntlich nicht, bis man fertig ist mit allem). Der Weißabgleich funktioniert gut bis sehr gut. Und ich habe damit nicht nur am PC nachbearbeitet, sondern mit seiner Hilfe auch einen manuellen Weißabgleich an der Kamera durchgeführt (mache ich inzwischen nur noch so - zumindest Outdoor). Klappt super und der Weißabgleich an der Kamera war bisher immer so extrem gut, dass ich mir eine Nachbearbeitung am PC fast immer sparen konnte. Ich fotografiere dabei für Outdoor den geteilten grau-weiß Bereich, das wird - zumindest an meiner Kamera mit den meisten meiner eingesetzten Objektive - noch präziser, als die graue Seite. Den Spyder kann ich (fast überall) aufhängen oder mit einem Stab z. B. in die Erde stecken und schnell mal zwischendurch, ohne die Kamera aus der Hand legen zu müssen, einen neuen Weißabgleich machen. Wenn nicht die Zeit ist, den Weißabgleich an der Kamera durchzuführen, habe ich aber zumindest das Referenzbild für einen späteren Weißabgleich am PC und das durch drehen auch noch mit Licht- und Schattenseite und Schwarzloch. Der Würfel hat ein Gewinde. Sehr praktisch und von mir inzwischen heiß geliebt. Ich habe eine etwas längere Gewindestange, die ich als Erdspieß verwende und eine etwas kürzere, die ich mit einer angebrachten Klemmhalterung (auf eine Seite noch einen guten Magneten geklebt) an vielen Dingen (z. B. Autofenster, Rahmen der Autotür, Zaun etc.) ruckzuck befestigen kann. Da brauch ich den Würfel nicht mal mehr festzuhalten wenn ich z. B. nur eine Seite ablichten möchte (manchmal ist frontal ganz hilfreich). Das mitgelieferte Samtbeutelchen bietet ausreichenden Schutz. Dabei liegt ein Band, welches man am Würfel befestigen kann und mit dem Klickverschluss am Band ist der Würfel auch schnell ab oder dran. Macht für alle Sinn, die den Würfel gegen Verlust sichern und an der Ausrüstung (oder woran auch immer) befestigen. Ich sichere solche Dinge immer gegen verlieren, daher weiß ich das durchaus zu schätzen, wenn ein Hersteller diesbezüglich mitgedacht hat. Nur das Gummiband, zum aufhängen an dem Würfel selber ist nicht so der Hit. Sehr dünn und wahrscheinlich wohl in absehbarer Zeit ausgeleiert oder spröde und reißt dann. Da wäre ein festes Bändchen wie an dem Halteband wohl besser gewesen. Ich liebe diesen kleinen Würfel und werde ihn sicher nicht wieder hergeben.

Ce petit cube magique n'a l'air de rien, mais peut se rendre sacrément utile pour rééquilibrer la température de couleur et aussi l'exposition en photographie surtout, mais aussi en vidéo. Une fois qu'on y a goûté, difficile de s'en passer : c'est comme les vitres électriques sur une voiture, tant que ça n'existait pas, on s'en passait parfaitement, mais maintenant on trouve que c'est un confort indispensable. Quelques conditions sont toutefois nécessaires pour en tirer vraiment profit : D'abord, il faut photographier en format RAW (NEF chez Nikon, les autres fabricants ont leurs dénominations à eux) et surtout pas en jpg, car seul le format RAW permet toutes les corrections d'exposition et de couleur. Ensuite, il est bien sur indispensable de corriger ses photos à l'aide d'un logiciel fait pour ça. Chez Nikon il en existe plusieurs plus ou moins gratuits, mais le top du top est bien sur Lightroom, de chez Adobe. (Photoshop est beaucoup plus lourd). Pour l'utilisation, concrètement, on prend une photo de référence avec le spydercube dans l'image, on l'enlève et on fait sa session normalement, et ensuite, on rétablit très simplement la bonne exposition et température sur la photo test, ce qui prend facilement 15 secondes, et on synchronise ces corrections sur toutes les photos. Enfantin, super rapide, totalement efficace. Personnellement, je l'utilise maintenant chaque fois que j'ai plus d'une dizaine de photos à faire dans des conditions d’éclairage difficiles (photos de concert notamment). Il tient facilement dans une poche (pour donner une idée, je pense qu'on pourrait en faire tenir deux dans un paquet de cigarettes standard), je l'ai toujours dans mon sac photo. Un seul "défaut", il faut faire attention au prix : variable d'un marchand et d'une semaine à l'autre si on l'achète séparément, il est également fourni dans différents kits/lots avec d'autres produits de chez datacolor, tels que les sondes colorimétriques (Spyder 4 également indispensable !), les chartes de couleur, etc.
