The yarn was splitting even before I took it out of the bag it came in: cotton yarns tend to split but this was more than usual - treat it as non-plied yarn, not the easiest thing for an inexperienced crocheter - maybe it is easier to knit. The bamboo also makes it very slippery, so you may want to experiment with different hook materials. Hence, I wouldn't recommend this for a complete beginner. I didn't know at the time, but feeding the yarn through a small bead might help to keep the threads together while you knit/crochet.I think you would need more than two skeins to make a pair of women's ankle socks (just an example, this isn't sock yarn) The yarn is not DK but more like fingering weight, as is stated further on the seller's description.The good points of this yarn: the colour (I got greens and blues) is lovely and the yarn is soft - bamboo is a wonderful material in hot weather and it is hypoallergenic; I like the fact it is made from 100% natural fibers. I have bought this yarn twice now and plan to buy some more.

To thin

Yarn arrived well packed and in good time. It knits as a fine 4ply in an interesting pattern. Useful for summer garments. Needs pulling into shape when washed.

the cotton is exactly what I wanted, but I was surprised that the postage was so high.

This is really nice wool unfortunately it was to thin for what I wanted it for but Hay it will come in handy for some else it is really soft.
