Spank the Monkey Lends a Hand [Bimisi Tayanita, Matt Williams, Sumguyen Bangladesh] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Spank the Monkey Lends a Hand Review: as pictured - I liked the book was as advertised. Cute & Funny Adult humor. It was delivered a little later than I thought. I will have fun reading this to my friends- for a good laugh. Review: Best of the five! - This is easily the funniest book in the series. It’s well written, witty, and just subtle enough to not be too offensive. This still isn’t for kids though and don’t trust anyone who says the innuendo is THAT subtle. I know there’s a video going around right now saying this is a kid’s book—IT IS NOT. Subtle as it is, this is still a book about masturbation. Keep it to the 18+ crowd, guys!

Too funny!
I bought three to give as gifts. It's definitely an adult book. Very humorous!

I laughed so hard I cried
I can't think of a single friend who wouldn't at least grin at this book of double entendre. The pictures make it safe enough should it land in the hands of a child. This is a gift that should be given at every baby shower!

Hilarious for parents who are bored of reading normal kid books to their babies
Review of Spank the Monkey Lends a Hand by Bimisi Tayanita Overview Spank the Monkey Lends a Hand is part of the deliberately provocative “Reach Around Books” series—short, illustrated picture books that mimic the look and tone of innocent children’s literature while embedding layers of adult humor through heavy use of double entendre. First published in 2016, it’s a quick read (around 30 pages) that relies far more on wordplay and delivery than plot complexity. Concept and Humor The central gimmick is simple but effective: every line can be read two ways. On the surface, it’s a harmless story about a monkey helping out. Beneath that, however, nearly every phrase carries an obvious (and often crude) secondary meaning aimed squarely at adults. This dual-layer writing is the book’s defining strength. When read aloud—especially in a group—the humor lands hardest, as readers struggle to keep a straight face while navigating increasingly suggestive phrasing. Many readers report laughing uncontrollably or turning it into a party game just to see who can finish it without breaking. Goodreads The comedy is intentionally blunt rather than subtle. If you appreciate innuendo-driven humor, it works extremely well; if you prefer clever or nuanced satire, it may feel repetitive after the initial joke is established. Writing Style and Structure The prose imitates classic beginner readers or bedtime stories—short sentences, simple vocabulary, and rhythmic repetition. This contrast between wholesome presentation and risqué subtext is what makes the book work. However, structurally, there’s not much progression. The “story” is secondary to the jokes, and character development is virtually nonexistent. This isn’t a narrative-driven book; it’s a comedic vehicle. Illustrations The illustrations are clean, colorful, and intentionally innocent. They reinforce the “this looks like a kids’ book” illusion, which amplifies the humor when paired with the text. Importantly, the visuals remain tame—so much so that, taken alone, they wouldn’t raise any concerns. This creates the odd effect where a child might see nothing unusual, while an adult reader interprets something entirely different—exactly the point of the series. Tone and Audience Despite its format, this is not a children’s book. It’s best understood as a novelty or gag gift for adults. Reviews consistently emphasize that it’s “hilariously dirty for the adult” while superficially innocent in presentation. Goodreads It works especially well in: Social settings (parties, gatherings) White elephant or joke gift exchanges Situations where reading aloud is part of the fun However, it’s not for easily offended readers. The humor is explicit in implication, even if never stated outright. Strengths Clever use of double entendre throughout Strong comedic payoff when read aloud Effective parody of children’s book format High replay/read-aloud value in group settings Weaknesses Thin plot and minimal substance beyond the central joke Humor can feel one-note after extended reading Limited appeal outside its niche (gag humor lovers) Risk of misunderstanding if mistaken for an actual children’s book Final Verdict Spank the Monkey Lends a Hand succeeds exactly at what it sets out to do: deliver crude, laugh-out-loud humor disguised as an innocent picture book. It’s not literary, and it doesn’t try to be. Its value lies entirely in its comedic execution and the reactions it provokes. Rating: 3.5–4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ if you enjoy raunchy humor and novelty books ⭐⭐ if you’re looking for story, depth, or subtlety If you want, I can compare it to other books in the same series (like Brenda’s Beaver Needs a Barber) or suggest similar humor books.

Absolutely HILARIOUS!!!
I almost couldn't read it for laughing. I think it's a fun way to make kids books more fun for the adults that are reading them. No kid in the intended demographic that's reading it should get the innuendo so it's perfect IN MY OPINION!

After seeing Brenda's beaver needs a barber on Facebook I honestly didn't think there would be anything as funny but Bimisi Tayanita has done it again.

This story is Purely innocent of course but not one for the children. Monkeys are often naughty so I am told ,
